Great new Grant Morrison interview

The Batman said:
Miller wishes he were HALF as inventive and versitile as morrison. All Miller can do is the same old pulp crime story. Morrison can pretty much do that and more...and better. Morrisons STILL considered one of the best writers today, where millers just a joke whos glory days passed him long ago.

However, i do look forward to his spirit movie

Miller's done a whole lot of Sci-Fi stuff too (Martha Washington Saves the World, Big Guy & Rusty, the Boy Robot) and 300 would count as a historical epic.

Hell, both Morrison and Miller are badass motherf**kers in the comics game. If the two ever settled differences and wrote something together, the awesomeness would kill us all.

...Did you not read Morrison's own monologue insulting Miller on his Holy Terror project?

I like your Sam Jackson quote, by the way.

Yeah, but he said he'd use a monologue for Batman's thoughts like Miller does. He just won't do it exactly like Miller.

Sam is the man. You know he made Snakes On a Plane just so he could see himself whoop ass? And he did the SW prequels to see himself do Errol Flynn swordfights.

I think I'll go ahead and buy 300. I keep seeing it in stores.

I love Miller's Sin City work, and I think that his commentary on noir is extremely correct and intelligent. I like the man, I like his magnum opus, but of his Batman work, I only like the first act of DKR and Year One.

When is the Al-Qaeda project supposed to be released?

There's no deadline but it's not anticipated till sometime after 2007.

he won't do it like Miller cuz he can't do it like Miller.Real genuine smart guy there, talking about how Millr would impress him by buckeling up and going to war.First off,our toops are in the wrong place.Secondly, Miller's like 56 yrs old?Sheesh.

You know what would impress me?If Morrison would write a story that doesn't rely on pseudo intellectual babble in an effort to hide the fact that he's a pretentious ****.He needs to wake up and realize that he's not Alan Moore, no matter how desperatly he tries to be.:)

No, no.....

...You do realize I'm trying to help your points, right? Don't insult me, please.

No insult meant there MM, just simply saying that I don't want morrison anywhere near Miller's work(not that Miller would let him).

That said, I think your posts are one of the few that are sensible around these parts:)

Well it seems anyone who doesn't agree with you, isn't being sensible.

Uh, thanks.

I would enjoy that though--maybe DKR Batman vs. the Ninja Man-Bats: with Bats b***h-slapping them through windows, then taking the tank and mowing them away with his "rubber bullets." :D

Morrison is incredible. His issues of Batman are the most fun I've had with the character in a long time.

Angsty Batman is getting a bit old, I agree, but the Ace comment scares me.

You could say Ace was used "in a way that makes sense" in the Batman Beyond series.

Yeah. He was really just a pet guard dog. Never anything stupid with him. I actually like Ace.

And usually, I hate those pet-heroes type. Really.

But, Ace was cool in there.

I'm a Neal Adam fan and for me his Batman will always be best. I pretty much dropped most of the Batman titles in the mid-80s, only picking up the odd story arc or TPB here and there. I wasn't sure about Morrison on the title, but I like him generally as a writer and after hearing a few interviews about the direction he was taking Batman, I decided to have a look. So far I like it and the interviews have convinced me to stay longer - if this continues you can welcome back an ex-batman fan back.

"Cheering on a fictional character as he beats up fictionalized terrorists seems like a decadent indulgence when real terrorists are killing real people in the real world. I'd be so much more impressed if Frank Miller gave up all this graphic novel nonsense, joined the Army and, with a howl of undying hate, rushed headlong onto the front lines with the young soldiers who are actually risking life and limb 'vs' Al Qaeda."

Real criminals are killing real people: real mobsters, pimps, and drug dealers. Morrison has had fictional heroes beat up fictionalized criminals. So now Morrison is guilty of an equivalent decadent indulgence, plus hypocrisy.

Hey, everyone knows that the political propaganda side of comics is ALWAYS a heated debate. You either like it or you don't.

But, I think he meant that AL QAEDA is REAL.

Your keyword is that he's written FICITIONAL hereos fighting FICTIONAL criminals.

Miller's next Batman book doesn't seem to do that. More like FICTIONAL vs. REAL to me.

And guys.......I dunno, but I think so far this Morrison run has done more for me than the ASBR run as all this time.

Morrison's run is REALLY good. It's like delicious Batman chocolate:(

I don't really buy that. However, I would if you could provide a comic from decades past where Batman kicks the crap out of John Gotti.
