greatest ever - watchmen v the dark knight returns

Watchmen

oh and for a real VS match, it should be Watchmen VS Kingdom Come.

A) Neither Watchmen or DKR are graphic novels.
B) Watchmen>DKR.

kingdom come is a good shout but imho watchmen is better

Seeing as I've only read half of Watchmen and never finished it, my vote automatically goes with DKR.

Batman: Year One and Kingdom Come are up there though.

Watchmen, definately. I read DKR, but didn't think it was as good as Year One. I have yet to read Kingdom Come, but I'm planning on it soon.

Love DKR but this is a no contest, watchman easy.

Neither.

Enjoyed Kingdom Come,New Frontier,The Golden Age and The American Way much more than any of these.

Watchmen. I find DKR to be very over-rated.

Watchmen. The Dark Knight Returns is a great read, but it is easily the most overrated comic in all of comicdom.

LMAO, was not expecting to see this when I opened the thread, I laughed quite hard, thank you very much. :hyper:

likewise :D

as for the poll I enjoyed Watchmen more, but I prefer Kingdom Come to either of those.

"Watchmen convinced me to go into film instead of comics. I was never going to be able to come close to that and it was always going to depress me." - Dvid Goyer (of Blade 3 and Batman Begins)

Thats a pretty big compliment.

DKR.

I couldn't even care enough to finish reading Watchmen.

I found watchmen good but I also suprisingly wasn't blown away by it.

Red Son and Kingdom come blew me away.

That whole interview was awesome. Made me want to go back and Read Watchmen again and check out all the stuff I missed.

I think one of the reasons I didn't like watchmen so much was because I saw alot of things coming. I already knew who the traitor was because I had heard it before on the History of Comics. Man, I have a serious love/hate relationship with spoilers.

The thing that makes Watchmen so awesome is, it's not so much the story, It's just that, it's the perfect representation of what comic books can be. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons came together and created a masterpiece. I mean, read, and I mean really read it. Check out how little, seemingly insignificant conversations or panels from the beginning, somehow come back in huge ways later on in the story. How, every time you read it, you get something else out of it that you didn't the last time. It's basically the Godfather of comics. Not everybody will get it, but most can appreciate it for it's artistic merit.

You have convinced me.
