Venom (ASM #300).

Rather the entire TPB which collected all of Venom's early story, the McFarlene and Michelinie stories. Because that was the first Spider-Man book I bought, and therefore, what got me into this whole comic-book craze back in the day.

IMO.

Spider-Man versus the Burglar that killed Uncle Ben (from Amazing Spider-Man #200) is by FAR the BEST Spider-Man story ever told.

Yes, the deaths of Gwen, Norman & Captian Stacy were terrific, as well as the underrated Juggernaut clash, but this issue was when everything came full circle for Peter Parker and he becomes less of a teenager and finally becomes a man when he confronts the man responsible for his being for the last time.

And unfortunately, due to the fact that it's NEVER been reprinted (and that it came out almost 30 years ago), most people have really never read this amazing tale, and it will get minimal votes... specifically from old timers like myself who had the honour & the priviledge to read one of the sweetest gem in comicdome.

:csad:

I own it, and it is grand.
Think I'm gonna dig it out when I'm next home actually.

i think that maximum carnage looks pretty good but im open for sugestions

The Death Of Gwen Stacy and Nothing Can Stop The Juggernaught are the best.Kraven`s Last Hunt is good, but a bit overated.

I voted Kravens last Hunt but that is probably more of a nostalgia thing as it was the 1st big cross over story I read in the Spidey books. Also remember being shocked when Kraven killed himself at the end, 1st real experience of death in a comic.

I think gwen's death is a lil overrated personally.

it's not like she was around for a long time in peter's life before it happened, she had recently come back from england as if she had come back simply to be killed.

but it's made an impact,

I wished they had used it more though. Like ben's death is used as a reason to be spiderman and take up responsibility, gwen's death should be the other side of the story how being spider-man affects the ones he loves.

two sides of the same coin, it should have caused for more mental torment on peter's part.

If this Be My Destiny is the best comic book story I have ever read. Next would be the Death of Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man/Human Torch and Maximum Carnage.

Okay, Spider-Man Blue ain't on here because while good it brought nothing new to the table and was reviosionist cannon in an attempt to usurp MJ.

I never really liked the Gwen Stacy character but I thoroughly enjoyed Blue and credit her to being a major factor in the golden age of Spidey. And I voted the Death of Gwen Stacy storyline 'cause you got it all right there. The end of the golden era, the loss of innocence, Pete finally "grows up." The two greatest rivals in the Marvel Universe in their ultimate clash. Peter going to the edge, Harry taking up his father's mantle, MJ staying by Peter and helping put the pieces back together and a set-up for future goings on and so forth.

Really, it defines the Spidey-verse very well.

With that said why isn't origin on here? Or Master Planner? Or the first Lizard in New York storyline? Or some of the Hobgoblin classics (like when MJ shows for good and all she knows who Spidey really is), or Death in the Family, etc.

But especially the origin. Oh wlel, I still would've voted for Death of Gwen STacy/The Goblin's Last Stand though.

Master Planner is up there. The actual story is called 'If this be my destiny' ASM #31-33.

I guess I didn't put the origin issue up there because I forgot about it. I don't know how I missed that one, guess it just was too obvious. And of course I have the Master Planner. How could I forget that one ;).
