you know what I just realized bothers me about this show? Aside from VARYING power levels per plot device?

There is no focus that I have noticed on WILLPOWER. why is this?

Really good episode. I loved the banter between Guy and Hal. This show has definitely grown on me. It's now officially on the DVR list.

Everyone acting like starstruck teenie boppers over Guy had me cracking up. (See signature) The show is more kid-centric than I'd like, but it does enough to keep me interested.

Yeah, it is kid-centric, but I don't mind it much.

The best line from Guy..."This is how I roll." OMG...I nearly fell off the couch laughing...lol. Then that scene where they a hugging on LIVE TV....hilarious.

Being kid-centric does give me the chance to watch it with my kids, one of whom is only 4, so that's a fair trade from my POV.

And I cracked up at the hugging scene and Guy asking Hal for Carol's number. The show seems to understand Guy's "lovable jerk" personality.

OMG...what a wonderful experience to be able to watch GLAS with your children. LOL...reminds me of all the Star War geeks who brought their children to the prequels.....such a wonderful sight. :yay:

:whatever: Though, I hate that some of those folks still HATE the prequels....lol.

Seriously, this one episode made me a fan. I am so waking up to watch this.

Yes, I did that too. My oldest daughter and I went and saw the 3-D eppy 1. It was a blast. I still love all the prequels and watch all the SW movies every year.

I think that's part of the reason I like the GL titles so much. It's a panoramic space opera similar to SW.

Got around to finally watching this.

Epic episode, and I'm quite interested where it goes from here. It's really too bad more people don't give it a chance, the quality is almost always consistent, and for people who dont know a lot about the green lantern it slowly educates you in a way thats enjoyable about them.

It's good to watch Green Lantern Animated again after a four-month wait. We're introduced to Guy Gardner, whom I find more likeable here. As much of a jerk as he is, he knows about the sacrifices the goes with being a superhero and saving the world, something that Hal should've known as we find out he is fired from Ferris Aircraft, broke up with Carol Ferris, and replaced as Green Lantern of Earth. In the end, Hal is promoted to protecting Guardian space as this will launch into the season storyline. We also have the Anti-Monitor and the Manhunters. It was a good battle between the Lanterns and Manhunters. This marks the first episode without Kilowog, Razer, and Aya, whom I hope join up with Hal in dealing with both the Anti-Monitor and Manhunters.

Not a bad episode, although Guy came off kind of weird to me. Everyone loving him strikes me as odd, since that's very much not who he is in the comics. But his and Hal's bonding toward the end was good. The Manhunters were cool too. Still, this was one of the weaker episodes for me because it focused mainly on Hal, whereas my main interests in the series are Kilowog, Razer, and Aya.

Well, when Guy was originally introduced in the comics, wasn't he well-liked by everyone? Then he got brain damage or something and his personality shifted to what he's famous for.

The only thing I didn't like about this episode was the convenient "oh, now our rings can destroy the Manhunters, when 5 minutes ago they couldn't" ending. Good character stuff with Hal though, and Guy is fun to have around.

It is weird that the only main character that showed up was Hal, though. What happened to Razer, Aya and Kilowog? They were there stopping the Red Lanterns too, so I feel like Kilowog should also be promoted t Honor Guard.

I thought Kilowog already was in the Honor Guard. He trains all the new recruits, so he's not a typical sector Lantern anyway.

Maybe. I don't think I would consider that an Honor Guard position though. He's just their trainer or something.

Yeah. He was a wholesome, friendly gym teacher who was Hal's backup. Then Zod trapped him in the Phantom Zone and it put him in a coma and gave him brain damage.

That's weird. I didn't know about that.

I wonder how long it'll be until they introduce the other human GLs. I'd love to see Alan Scott appear as Hal's predecessor. Kyle and John would be cool too, although I have very little hope for Kyle ever appearing.

John would be cool, especially if they make him look exactly like his JLU design.

I'd like to see them as well.

I guess if they wanna stay true to the source material, its impossible to introduce Kyle without going through Emerald Twilight and chances are they don't want to introduce Emerald Twilight.

Nah, they aren't being true to the source material as it is. The show is it's own thing and could introduce Kyle if they wanted to. It will probably happen later in the series.

Scott's GLC in name only. He doesn't really fit unless they stray from his origin.

Pretty much the only good design he ever had.

Wha..wha...WHAT??!!! John's always had great designs.

Even though it's not following the GLC continuity, it has the same feel of the books. It keeps introducing lots of characters and storylines, even if they are a little simplistic.

He's a GL, regardless of the Corps' endorsement. Hal's been chafing under the Guardians' authority anyway. Could be nice to see him meet a GL who's got all the independence he craves, free to do his own thing and patrol just Earth rather than getting sucked into interstellar wars, allowing him to have more of a personal life, etc. There could be a good story there. Not everything has to revolve entirely around the Corps.

In the Facebook preview there was a clip from an episode where Hal gets transported to a steampunk world with it's own Steam Lantern. I think it'll be an alternate Hal, but my hopes are that it's a version of Alan.

Eh...maybe. I've never found Scott interesting at all because his ring and back story weren't connected to the Corps. I guess we'll have to see how he's handled.

If so, I hope they go with a costume more like Kingdom Come. Scott's free-for-all classic costume makes my eyes hurt.

His costume is quintessential Golden Age goodness. I really hope they stick to it if they use him in the show. It's glorious.
