Green Lantern: The Animated Series

I have no problems with the CGI. it just takes time getting used to seeing Bruce Tim designs in 3 dimensions.

Just like it was awkward when Clone Wars went from animated to CGI.

I am pleasantly pleased with this show and what it hints at in [BLACKOUT]the yellow crystals dissipating green lantern energy[/BLACKOUT].
Im curious as to how they will introduce [BLACKOUT]Sinestro[/BLACKOUT]

I like the CGI and lately we've been having CGI cartoon shows (TF: Prime, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Voltron Force (along with 2D), Iron Man, and this).

I hope they don't bring in John Stewart as he's already been used in JL/ JLU.

The opening 2-parter was a great start. I wasn't sure about introducing the Red Lanterns right at the beginning, but they really made it work. They're really easy to set up, and in the comics they came along when a ton of other stuff was going on, so they never really got the chance to assert themselves as a major threat.

Episode 3 was...less good. Things felt off. The plot was predictable and Razer got completely de-balled. I was disappointed we didn't get to see Hal's worst memory when the spiders slapped the thing on his head. And Hal giving Razer his ring back at the end was seven shades of dumb.

I hope they get Hal and Kilowag back to Oa soon and don't draw out this particular adventure too long.

Yeah, this was a missed opportunity for both Hal and Kilowog with the revelation of their worst fears. A flashback to Hal's dad dying in his plane scared out of his mind would've said a lot about Hal.

I honestly wish that they had gone with Jon Stewart for the movie. He's more interesting, to me at least, and most kids only reference for Green Lantern these days was the Justice League cartoon which used Jon. My nephew even asked me why they cast a white guy for the Green Lantern movie before it came out.

Yeah, I kept waiting for them to show their hallucinations. Seemed like the obvious way to go yet they kinda didnt even mention it at all lol

I'm glad the movies and show are showing that there are other ones out there. Guy Gardner was represented in Batman: The Brave and The Bold too. All we need is some more Kyle Rayner love outside of JLU and all 4 will be properly represented. I don't think people quite grasp that it's a military unit yet for some reason.

As for John Stewart he's only interesting with Hawkgirl and The Flash around for me. Otherwise he's another stoic superhero with a scowl. I do like his rivalry with Hal, though, so hopefully will see him on this show too. Maybe even voiced by Phil Lamarr. The JLU design in 3D would be pretty cool to look at. As would his constructs that he tends to put so much detail into.

The backstory of him feeling responsible for an entire planet being eradicated could be interesting. And do other Sectors have multiple Lanterns?

From what I understand all 4 Lanterns were in charge of the same sector, some at the same time as others.

All 4 have been in charge of the same sector at one point or another. Now it's just Hal Jordan and John Stewart since each sector has two Lanterns now. Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner are honor Lanterns usually assigned to train rookies and go on special missions and such. They live on Oa now.

As soon as I saw Hal in the trailers, I knew it would fail. As more of a Marvel fan, I'd say that the DCU in it's most perfect form is the one we got from the JLU show. The closer they make things to that series, the better.
That's exactly how I feel about it. I love it. I feel like it would even fit other heroes like The Flash or Superman.

Am I the only person who finds John Stewart the most boring of the earth GLs? I really do not see the appeal. At least in JLU he was the angry black man. Other than that his personality is...what, exactly? He goes missing in the books and I usually don't even notice.
I don't think he was an angry black man & I doubt that's what the writers were going for. IIRC he's an ex-marine on that show & he pretty much acted like one. I've heard he's not as cool in the books(is he a marine?), but it doesn't matter to me because I'm not into JL books.

&they got it right. John's the best & then it's Guy. Hal's only cool to me when he's punching Batman in the face. Don't really like Kyle that much either. Hal was also already used on The Batman & that version of the JLA was just wrong. Hal was also in that failure of a movie. Hal = bad. TF: Prime is crap(mostly because of the kids, but some of the designs suck, like Starscream. Don't like Optimus w/a mouth either). New TCats & GIJoe used traditional animation & are both faaaaaaar better. I've heard that Clone Wars is better than when it started. I stopped watching after the 2nd ep 'cuz I couldn't stand the sidekick & I think it's too late for me to get back into it. CGI on that show is pretty good. I wish it'd been more like the traditional series they made right before. That was awesome & the part w/Mace force crushing Greivous' insides was cool. Hell, I'm still looking for an action figure or a statue of the storm trooper leader w/the 2 pistols who spoke only w/hand signals. Iron Man's ok, but I lost track of that show a while back. I'd rather them have used an adult Tony for that show. CGI isn't always bad, but the CGI on GL is. They should have used the same format as Young Justice

Never understood the appeal of John, allways found him stoick, and i sincerelly prefer Hal Jordan, the movie didn't fail because they used Hal Jordan, it failed because of the terrible story and CGI.

Yeah, Hal is a lot more fun and proves not all military guys have to be stoic so I don't know what John's deal is. He's a marine in the comics now thanks to the show but he's always been an architect first and even then he was just...angry all of the time. I'm surprised Guy was the one who ended up with the red ring in the comics.

Really? That guys full of rage.

All of them are s**t in comparison to Alan "F**king" Scott though.

Now there's someone I want to see on the show.

I want to see what Aya is capable of in robot mode.

I think that they will show many alien villains like Despero, Kanjar Ro, Mongul, and Thanagerians.

I am looking forward to appearance of Larfleeze and Saint Walker.

Thanagarians and Saint Walker are confirmed. As is Star Sapphire. :hrt:

I really wish they did this with usual animation and not cgi since it seems to be limiting them so much.

Hmmm...kinda sucks that I immediately thought of naughty dirty things.

She might be pretty powerful if shes tapped into the energy of the ship.

How is CGI limiting it so much?
I actually like the road they decided to go for, the only thing is that because of the animation it can't be set in the DC animated universe, well, i think it could be, but they don't seem to want to do that.

How so? If anything it's doing the exact opposite. It's the halfway point between hand drawn and live action. I love it.

Anybody here watch the just released CGI Ben 10 tv-movie?

They did a GREAT job on the animation and style of that show, I would've liked to see the GL show go in that direction but still keep the Timm character designs. It's also a little more detailed.

The fourth episode of season one (Into The Abyss) was okay, it did not have much story other than Hal, Kilowog and Razer rescuing a stranded cargo ship from falling into a black hole.

This episode felt like watching an episode of Star Trek.

But we got to see the first appearance of ship's computer Aya in human (robot) form.

They have said that they are limited to how many characters they can bring in due to the cgi and I think we would probably see more of the gl universe instead of them stuck in god knows where for god knows how long.

I do enjoy seeing the GLs just doing their job and not having every ep be a fight or world saving deal. Hal's slingshot move with the ship was pretty brilliant and so risky and I actually had to remind myself "Idiot, they're not going to kill them off on their own show". The idea was just so insane and it worked and it's just pure Hal. It was pretty awesome. This show is...well, it's Star Wars. It's Star Trek. It's a space opera. It's what Green Lantern SHOULD be and it captures that perfectly.
