Green Lantern: The Animated Series

I do enjoy seeing the GLs just doing their job and not having every ep be a fight or world saving deal. Hal's slingshot move with the ship was pretty brilliant and so risky and I actually had to remind myself "Idiot, they're not going to kill them off on their own show". The idea was just so insane and it worked and it's just pure Hal. It was pretty awesome. This show is...well, it's Star Wars. It's Star Trek. It's a space opera. It's what Green Lantern SHOULD be and it captures that perfectly.

Exactly. I want to see GL/GL corps just helping out random people in space doing random space things in random planets rather than have epic Star Wars battles all the time with the various rainbow corps. In other words, a little more Star Trek, a little less Star Wars for the GL series.

Ironically, I'm a bigger fan of Star Wars than Star Trek (as a kid, Trek was more boring), but now that I'm older I enjoy the Star Trek concept more than Star Wars (sci-fi versus fantasy).

I still want the epic battles though, but leave those for the finale episodes.

This was a pretty awesome adaptation of the story from Green Lantern Corps. I might go as far as saying it was done even better. A lot more subtle and unless you read the comic it was probably hard to guess who the real villain was.

I knew from the second that *****e started asking all those questions.

Good episode. It was pretty obvious what's-his-face was the killer, though.

Heir Apparent sees the princess becoming the queen while Hal Jordan and Kilowog investigate another GL, who was murdered just before the gladiatorial combat. The minute that the queen's brother kept asking too many questions about the GL's, we knew this was coming a mile away. The queen becoming the new GL was a nice twist.

Meanwhile, we get to see Aya in action in her physical robot form after last week's episode debuted at the end. Her and Razer's chemistry is getting more and more interesting. Razer may be disobedient, but he's proven to be a solid team player.

This series keeps getting better and better. Good episode overall.

Razer is awesome! His looks somehow kinda reminds me of Zero from Mega Man X series ;)

I'm really loving this show. The action is great, the character dynamics and dialogue are great, the plots are well-constructed, etc.

You can tell it's a Bruce Timm show because it has that certain flavor that no other show has, and this show is no different.

Also, the CG has really grown on me. Even though the character designs are simple, each character has all these subtle nuances in their facial expressions and body language that let you know what the character is doing or thinking. I love stuff like that.

Think Razer and Aya are gonna get together lol

Seems like the prince will be getting a red lantern ring in a future episode

I agree with this, I am enjoying this show a lot. Fun thing to watch on my Saturday mornings, along with YJ right after.

Damn, I didn't even know this show existed until I just saw this thread. But a Bruce Timm Green Lantern animated series? I need to see this!

I'm not gonna lie, I might like this show more than EMH and Young Justice.

Great episode. (Heir Apparent)

The series has really started well, Bruce Timm brings a certain amount of natural feeling to all his animations, which makes you care for the characters. :yay:

I think I agree with you.

It's probably because those shows (not that they're bad) have much more content in them, and more characters to keep track of and develop, that you wonder how they're going to juggle all of it (and they do, for the most part).

With a show like this, there's only a few select main characters, so you can enjoy the show and characters more instead of worrying whether one character is going to get the shaft or not. It feels more simple, but it has more of focus, which makes it more entertaining to watch. Not to mention that the humor and dialogue works a lot better, probably because Bruce Timm helped create it.

It just feels more polished and complete as a show, if that makes any sense.

Goddamn the final chase scene in the last episode looked SPECTACULAR. Fantastic animation, design and color scheme. I love this show.

So I just watched the first 4 episodes, and it really is quite good. While the worlds they visit still seem a bit small and under-realized to me (due to budget constraints I'm sure), I still feel like just everything the Green Lantern movie was lacking can be found in this show. I love that it seems pretty serialized and these characters appear to have arcs planned out from the start. It's making me want to pick up some GL comics for the first time.

Also, I like this waaaaay more than Avengers:EMH, which I watched several episodes of in its first season and just found to be too annoyingly "kiddie" in tone. Bruce Timm just knows how to make animated series for all ages better than anyone, imo.

It's getter better, I hated the 2 part premiere. And yes it's 100x better then the movie.

This is quickly becoming my favorite super hero show. So is the continuity of this show based off of the movie or something the creators came up on their own ?

Though I'm assuming Sinestro was left out in order to prevent stealing away the thunder from any sequels to the movie.

So no Sinestro Corps War ? I hope they do something cool with the Red Lanterns.

Maybe next season? I know this season the Red Lanterns are probably the big bads throughout. With other villains sprinkled in, I know they've fought the Spider Guild already and that Star Sapphire and some Thanagarians are coming up.

Sinestro will be in season 2 probably, Johns said they didn't want to tackle his story in the 1st season.
