gremlins 25th anniversary

I've read the only reason that and Temple of Doom didn't get an R-rating was because Spielberg was the executive producer/director on both films.

I remember there was a huge deal made out of the gremlin getting blown up in the microwave. That, and the guy getting his heart ripped out in Indiana Jones.
Yeah, the gremlin getting blown up was a big deal.

And people were mad when it turned into a horror movie slightly. they thought it was gonna be another movie like how ET was. and parents were going out of the theaters to the managers complaining about it.

I remember there were a lot of warnings going up about it. What was weird is I was allowed to see Gremlins, but not Temple of Doom or even Ghostbusters that summer.

I do remember thinking Gremlins was pretty scary, though. But I saw it twice. :woot:

Gremlins and GB's ame out the same day.

People got suckered in by the cute gizmo and were scared of the gremlins afterwards.

I was like 3 at the time of gremlins coming out in 84. So i saw it a few years later on vhs.

There are few movies I would double dip for, but I'd gladly do it for Gremlins (I'd only consider it double dipping cause I just recently bought the DVD). I hope they do something cutesy like include a stuffed Gizmo with it. I'd sit him right on my desk.

Anytime I hear the song "Do you hear what I hear" my first thought is of this movie. Mom vs. the gremlins is my favorite part.

For some reason, when I'm bored and just have nothing to say, I'll randomly scratch my voice into that of a Gremlin and say "Deeeagle, Deagle Deagle". That line always stood out to me, just because it sounded to funny from a Gremlin.

And I'm with you 'hitmanyr2k', that song reminds me of Gremlins when I hear it. I believe that Gremlin in the microwave was the 'too far' moment for parents back then. That death just pushed the outrage button on so many parents. Gremlin being stabbed and mixed, OKay, electricuted..okay...microwaved and blown up..that's it, I'm takening my kids out of the theater and complaining about it to the manager. haha
