List guitarist who 20 years from now or even today may/are called Guitar Gods of this century.

My top 2 picks

Jack White (White Stripes/The Raconteurs/The Dead Weather, etc...)

Some of my favorite works of his.

Ray LaMontagne

John Petrucci

If we're talking guitarists who are just up and coming in the past 9 years or so then for me Travis Levrier and Chris Letchford from Scale The Summit. These guys are great, and only about 22, so lots of great stuff ahead for them.

Rodrigo y Garbiela. [Awesome] Mexican guitar duo, if you ever get the chance to see them live, grab it. Their new album "11:11" is f****** great.

But if we're talking Guitar Gods in general who are still active this century then Joe Satriani is my top pick.
Check out 02:50 :word:

^^^ dude rodrigo y garbiela kick major butt  , gonna have to check them out.

Matt Bellemy of Muse

True that.

Are we talking coming up with Riffs, Skills, Technique, Being admired, Showmanship, Being groundbreaking, Uniqueness or what?

Modern Guitarists I like are Jamie Hince (The Kills), Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and Johnny Marr (his still playing with bands The Cribs/Modest Mouse).

i think when it comes to talent, popularity, showmanship, and out right respect, jack white would define the modern day guitar god.

Always hear good things about Petrucci, but never got around to checking him or Dream Theater out.

You should not delay. The whole darn band are virtuosos and Petrucci has truly mind boggling skills.

although I don't like his musical output that much, Zakk Wylde is one of the most complete guitar players around, he's got a killer tone, righteous chops, his rhythm and riffs are awesome and his leads are really tight

Jeff Loomis

Not bad picks guys...

Most modern day guitar gods lists start with Jack White and Tom Morello, two of the most over rated musicians of all time, right alongside Kurt Cobain.

I like most of the ones listed here but I think "Guitar God" is a title that is most fitting for Jack White. I can't think of anyone else who better fits the criteria.
