DC Television Gunn Considers ‘Superman’ Spin-offs for Mr. Terrific, Jimmy Olsen

Jimmy I’m not quite sure what else you can do with but I would love a Mr Terrific series

A Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen series sounds too good to pass up. Bring the DP gang back, with Brosnahan too. And Corenswet can cameo. And Eve too as Jimmy’s new girlfriend

Bring in General Sam Lane, Lucy, Titano the Super Ape, Toy Man, Monsieur Mallah and the Brain, Ultra-Humanite—all the fun Silver Age stuff.

I’m all for a Mr. Terrific series too, but I also don’t mind a straight-to-streamer movie either. I miss those being an option.

Please don’t call them the DP gang.

Silver age stuff would be cool though

Not quite sure how that’s supposed to work, but I’m vaguely intrigued. The set-up of the DCU already really being in full swing does seem to allow for a lot of villains to already be in the game. Might be a good way to get into some bad guys who’d likely never be the big bad of a film/series of their own.

Might be funny to do something Fourth World, considering that all kicked off in a Jimmy Olsen comic.

Little surprised, though. I was really betting on something like the Matt Fraction comic/harkening back to the Silver Age.

Hosted by seems like a funny note lol what if its a show within the world of the DCU that he hosts? A 48HR/Dateline/true crime kinda interview/narration thing about famous DC cases?

100% support the Jimmy show.

The 'Office'-inspired Daily Planet skits were quite funny.

That’s very cool! Will he try to kill Barack Obama again?

Ok I really need to hear some casting suggestions for Grodd. Do you think Jack Black will get it since he recently followed Gunn? Or Seth Rogen and he can be like, the monkey guy.

I’ve heard plenty of praise for American Vandal, but haven’t gotten around to watching it.

This might finally change that.

Cool news; I’m glad Gunn put together such a good cast since the DP staff was pretty under utilized in Superman. Wonder if this ends up mockumentary style too…

It’s crazy how much content Gunn is pulling just from Superman lore to build up this DCU. Crazy in a good way. Superman, Supergirl, now Jimmy Olsen & the Daily Planet.

I hope the Bat family gets this love once Batman’s finally introduced.

Only concern here is that it's gorilla grodd and this is a tv show so hopefully the CGI is good or else it runs the risk of looking terrible.

Otherwise a crime anthology is a great idea.

We've come a long way with gorilla/ape CGI lol. Even the CW had pretty good visuals when Grodd showed up, so I've got to imagine HBO can handle it.

They've got dragon money for GOT; surely HBO can make a gorilla work on screen.

One scene of episode Season 1 of Peacemaker had a completely CG gorilla done by Framestore and that looked great. Framestore consistently does great and realistic animal VFX in every project they’ve worked on and I see that trend continuing with this spinoff.

Sources tell Nexus Point News that the series, now titled DC Crime, plans to shoot next Spring in Atlanta. This would coincide with the production schedule on Gunn’s next film, Man of Tomorrow similar to how Superman and Peacemaker season2 shot side by side. DC Crime is set to star Gisondo, in addition to the rest of the Daily Planet crew which includes editor-in-chief, Perry White (Wendell Pierce), Steve Lombard (Beck Bennett), Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover), and Ron Troupe (Christopher McDonald). Clark Kent (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) are not expected to appear. The series is set to feature Gorilla Grodd as one of the primary villains that Olsen will be investigating.
