DC Studios Taps ‘American Vandal’ Creators for Jimmy Olsen TV Spinoff (Exclusive)
The show would be led by Skyler Gisondo, reprising his role as Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, with season one focusing on Gorilla Grodd.t.co
Only concern here is that it's gorilla grodd and this is a tv show so hopefully the CGI is good or else it runs the risk of looking terrible.
Otherwise a crime anthology is a great idea.
One scene of episode Season 1 of Peacemaker had a completely CG gorilla done by Framestore and that looked great. Framestore consistently does great and realistic animal VFX in every project they’ve worked on and I see that trend continuing with this spinoff. We've come a long way with gorilla/ape CGI lol. Even the CW had pretty good visuals when Grodd showed up, so I've got to imagine HBO can handle it.
They've got dragon money for GOT; surely HBO can make a gorilla work on screen.

Sources tell Nexus Point News that the series, now titled DC Crime, plans to shoot next Spring in Atlanta. This would coincide with the production schedule on Gunn’s next film, Man of Tomorrow similar to how Superman and Peacemaker season2 shot side by side. DC Crime is set to star Gisondo, in addition to the rest of the Daily Planet crew which includes editor-in-chief, Perry White (Wendell Pierce), Steve Lombard (Beck Bennett), Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover), and Ron Troupe (Christopher McDonald). Clark Kent (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) are not expected to appear. The series is set to feature Gorilla Grodd as one of the primary villains that Olsen will be investigating.
