Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji star Karen Gillan has signed on to toplineGunpowder Milkshake, an action thriller from Studiocanal and The Picture Company. Plot details are being kept muzzled, but the pic is described as being in the assassin genre with a story that spans multiple generations. The entire cast is envisioned as being all-female, with Gillan the cornerstone.

Kill Bill, the opus by Big Bad Wolves fan Quentin Tarantino, and Baby Driver are the touchstones of the project, with "stylish," "snappy" and "violent" its watchwords.

HN Entertainment is now hearing from sources that British actress Lena Headey (Dredd, Game of Thrones, 300) is in the mix to join confirmed lead Karen Gillan. Another name we’ve also heard is Anya Taylor-Joy (New Mutants, Glass, Split, The Witch), but it’s unknown what role she could be eyed for.

Star Trek: Discovery star Michelle Yeoh has joined the high-caliber cast of Gunpowder Milkshake, the an action thriller from Studiocanal and The Picture Company.

Carla Gugino Joins ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’

The Navot Papushado-directed action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake has set Carla Gugino as a lethal assassin in the film’s final piece of casting. Gugino will star alongside will star alongside Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett and Paul Giamatti. The film shoots this summer in Berlin. Plot is being kept under wraps but it is described as a high-concept assassin story that has a rich mythology and spans several generations.

Gugino will play part of a secret sisterhood who come together to help Gillan’s character when things go south. Pic was scripted by Big Bad Wolves‘ helmer Papushado, and Ehud Lavski. It shoots at the Babelsberg FilmStudio June 3.

Gugino is coming off The Haunting of Hill House andSan Andreas, and next get in action mode in Cinemax’s hotly tipped Jett, which starts in June, and in which she plays the title role. Her other credits include Watchmen, Sucker Punch, SIn City, American Gangster, Spy Kids, and Gerald’s Game.

I’m really liking the look of the Librarians. And the cast is just awesome ladies overload. Hope this doesn’t waste it’s potential.

Look awesome! I hope they didn’t give away the entire plot in the trailer, though it kinda seems like it.

Then again, I’m guessing that, like John Wick, there isn’t all that much of a plot and that’s fine.
