Guns N' Roses: A Thread 15 Years In The Making

last album was in 1993, even though it was a cover album. new material was written in 1994. want to make it worse and say you can't count to 14?

or please, teach me.

The last album being released in 1993 doesn't have anything to do with Chinese Democracy being 'announced', that's one display or ignorance from you.

Secondly, the only song that existed around that time is rumoured to be This I Love, in some form, an Axl song. All other songs were written much later. Shackler's Revenge for example has Buckethead on the writing credits, he joined the band in 2000. Better was written by Robin Finck, he joined the band in 1998.

Although the old band started writing new material as far back as 1994, that was not Chinese Democracy, this is evident in the fact that slash, who left the band in 1996 and Duff, who left in 1998 were not aware of any of the songs that would eventually appear on CD and stated themselves that they'd never heard them before. Old members are also not thanked on the album and have no mention or credit, showing that Chinese Democracy didnt start until much after they'd all left.

Now **** off.

They announced a new album in 1994. That album became Chinese Democracy after many, many iterations. Most of the songs have Buckethead, Finck, and even Bumblefoot listed in the writing credits, because most of them added at least a solo that they wrote to it, so they got a credit. For all purposes, we've been waiting 15 years for Chinese Democracy. Now settle the hell down, because you're in an argument with this guy for no damn reason.

Also, what the hell kind of crazy mixed up bizzaro world is this where I'M the voice of god damn reason?

Any announcement in 1994 wasn't Chinese Democracy, it was the loose intention of a follow up. The start of Chinese Democracy and the material on it emerged much later. For example, a lot of the songs and ideas they might have used for the next Guns record eventually became Snakepit material after Slash pulled it when Axl showed some interest.

You're wrong of course about the writing credits. Axl himself has said Better is a Finck song, and that Robin was the main creative force behind it. Chris Pitman has also confirmed that he and Axl wrote a lot of the material on the album at Axl's house themselves. These guys joined long after 93.

It helps if you know what you're talking about, go read up.

to fuel the fire, gennith, you're only lowering the number of years.

I say it's been 14 years.

14 years of silence....14 years of pain...14 years that are gone forever, and I'll, never have again.

I couldnt resist.

But anyway, getting off of this stupid argument about what number this guy can and cannot count to that every single person in the world disagrees with...I finally got in that Limited Edition Appetite CD from Best Buy. It is in fact just the Japanese import. I'm still going to keep it cause why the hell not, but it's nothing special. Doesn't even have the original album art.

Apart from people who actually know anything about a band they claim to like. Go to any Guns message board, you'd be laughed out. :whatever:

Or they would understand that when most people say "it's been a 15 year wait for Chinese Democracy" they mean that well...it's been a 15 year wait for it, regardless of how many shapes it took over the years. A good example is Duke Nukem Forever. The version of that that's slated for release next year is not the Duke Nukem Forever they showed in 1998 in any way, shape, or form, yet they are still different itterations of the same game. It's the same for this. You're arguing semantics, and coming off as a petty moron.

I never mentioned or said it hadn't been a 15 year wait. In fact I didn't mention a 'wait' in any shape or form. The whole thing was concerning when CD was 'announced'. Open your eyes next time, your ignorance has already wasted enough of my time.

Once again, you're arguing semantics. You know what he meant, and you still started a 2 page long derail over it, which if you look at the original insult you were trying to defend yourself against, actually makes you look worse. This is stupid, you're stupid, I'm done with it.

"been following CD for so many years i've lost count"

"been following" is in some way a shape or form a wait.

i love sick days.

You can follow a football team, you're not waiting for them.

Game, set and match

not game set match.

you follow something because you wait for something exciting to happen, let's say the release of an album or a terrible team finally winning a championship. eventually, if something doesn't happen, you lose interest and stop waiting.

you've been following the development of CD for 14 years waiting for the day to finally hear it.

Okay can you guys stop arguing about how long it took to make. Either you like it or you don't, how long it took to make doesn't matter, plain and simple.

It is in fact just the Japanese import. I'm still going to keep it cause why the hell not, but it's nothing special. Doesn't even have the original album art
You mean it has the banned cover(Robot about to rape a lady)? Or are you saying that it has the Skull Cross and you're sad it doesn't have the rape robot?

I'm saying it has the Skull Cross, and I'm sad it doesnt have the Rape-Bot. You know, of all countries, you'd think Japan would be the most open to having that cover, but apparently not. Oh well, that's the album art I have set to it on my Zune. And it does have a bigger booklet (complete with all the lyrics...IN JAPANESE!) so I'm not that upset.

Read about this on another forum. Too bad i don't have RB2.

geez, a lot has happened since this thead was last visited. Axl ranting on online forums, calling Slash a cancer, slash firing back saying he will never work with Axl ever again, Perla Hudson(Slash's wife) defending Slash.

Slash hit an all time low. Not that he has his woman battling his fights for him but he played Led Zeppelin with Fergie, i mean wtf is that all about?

You can say what you will about Axl, but the guy's always had integrity. That's something Slash threw away in order to have a digital cartoon of himself appear in a game that advertises KFC and AXE deodorant and a boatload of cash a long, long time ago.

The Rock Band 2 version of the album has alternate cover art. Probably the cover-b that Best Buy had listed for preorder but never delivered on. I think I preffer it to the art that's on the retail version.
