Action-Adventure Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen

Bumping the thread since another one has been created

Just caught this. It is definitely a Guy Ritchie film.

Had a good time, thought a lot of the actors did great in their roles. I felt there was one or two times I got lost in the timeline but recovered quickly. Didn't take away from the enjoyment of the movie.

I felt Grant and Hunnam stole the show. Glad I made the time to see this.

Didn't care for King Arthur or Aladdin, but The Gentlemen got me back on the Ritchie wagon... for now anyway.

Overall a really good, funny and engaging rollick. I hope his next film Cash Truck turns out well.

This was great. I honestly thought the movie was a bit boring at first but I was definitely wrong.

Very engaging and a lot of fun by the time it ended and I'm already I'm up for a re-watch.

I liked Aladdin but I'm glad Richie is back to his British crime caper roots. He is really very good at it so more of that please.

I ****ing loved this and now I'm even more mad that I put off watching it for so long. Ritchie was really firing on all cylinders here and I'm so glad to see him return to form. The guy is just insanely talented when it comes to making these kinds of films to the point where I still don't understand why he decides to choose to do movies like Aladdin or King Arthur other than for a nice sized paycheck which is understandable I guess, but its a real waste of his talent IMO, especially when he has this great and size of a cast to work with. So much cool suaveness and badassery with the characters in this movie and some really fantastic performances from Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnam and Colin Farell. I thought Henry Golding and Matthew McConaughey were pretty great too, although a bit underused. I just wanted more out of the ending and honestly if Ritchie did a sequel I'd be so down for it.

9/10

He was able to bring his auteur sensibilities to the Sherlock Holmes movies. Those movies (at least the first one, my memory is fuzzy on the sequel) retained Ritchie's distinctive and signature style and it totally worked.

His style contradicted King Arthur so it didn't turn out well. I loved Aladdin but it wasn't a Guy Ritchie movie. It was a waste of Ritchie's talents. I'm glad he seems to be focusing on the British crime capers but he can still direct good blockbusters. He just needs the right material.

I really liked this movie.

I saw it about 2 months ago. Very nice to see Ritchie go back to his "roots" or whatever. I liked the Sherlock Holmes movies and Man from Uncle too, but I just miss that old school Ritchie. I wish e would've gotten The Real RocknRolla.

I'm down for a TV show, but are the alive cast members returning? I don't see them doing it.

I can’t see them coming back.

I found this interesting as I read the article.

This makes it a full circle for The Gentlemen, which started off as a TV series pitch before it became a feature.

Theo James Cast In Guy Ritchie’s Netflix TV Series ‘The Gentlemen’ – Deadline

Theo James is set to lead Netflix’s The Gentlemen, based on the Guy Ritchie film of the same name, Deadline has learned. Production begins next in London next week.

The series follows James’ character Eddie Halstead, who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?

Amazing what a prosthetic can do for your career

More casting news, and it’s a pretty good list so far!

Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ Netflix Series Sets Main Cast, Including Giancarlo Esposito, Kaya Scodelario, Vinnie Jones

Joining previously announced series lead Theo James in the series will be: Kaya Scodelario (“Crawl,” “The Pale Horse”), Daniel Ings (“I Hate Suzie”), Joely Richardson (“Lady Chatterley’s Lover”), Giancarlo Esposito (“Better Call Saul,” “The Mandalorian”), Peter Serafinowicz (“The Tick”), and Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “Snatch”). The role will see Jones and Ritchie reunite for the first time since “Snatch,” which debuted in 2000.

Damn, Theo would make a good Bond. Has he been rumored for it? If not, he should be.

Not that I’m aware of but I’m sure there’s been conversations. He would be excellent. Especially after that scene in white lotus

Just binged the show. Absolutely loved it. I liked the movie but the show was just on another level. Theo James and Kaya Scodelario were the biggest standouts; they made a great team. Vinnie Jones and Joely Richardson were also really good. I highly recommend it; this feels like a true return to form for Ritchie. It’s obviously a sequel/spin-off of The Gentlemen film but it also feels like it could be part of the same world that Snatch exists in. I hope it’s popular because I would love to see a second season.

I pretty much finished this in two days and absolutely loved it. This really felt like Ritchie tapping back into his Snatch/Lock Stock roots with an incredibly talented cast of actors surrounding him.

As much as I loved the movie this was definitely on another level.

Hopefully, it gets renewed.

Just watched it recently, loved it!

YESSSSS!! This is the best thing Ritchie has done since Snatch, so I’m really glad to see it coming back.
