Guy Ritchie Revives A "King Arthur" Saga

I usually don't take RT that much seriously, but that 21% rating is very off-putting. Will probably wait for it to hit blu-ray.

Too bad, I really like Guy Ritchie and his style as a director.

Makes you wonder why you needed to mention it then, right? :cwink:

I was only responding to the seemingly lot of posts proclaiming the low RT score and that the film is bad as in absolute stinker. But the actual reviews refuted it and according to some the film is enjoyable. heh

I have always considered viewer's opinion about a film be a matter of individual taste --always have been that way for me.

This applies to every movie. Not even Beefcake Hercules got no positive ratings. So it such a weird thing to try and argue. Of course some will like it. It applies to any movie. In terms of a consensus, that is a very different question.

WTF? F**k RT, if you like Ritchie go watch it. Like I've said, some people liked it more than GotG 2 and look at its RT percentage...

The thing is GOTG Vol.2 reflects its RT rating and I really liked it (saw it 2 times and probably a 3rd one next week).

On the other hand, I wasn't impressed by any of the trailers for King Arthur. And that RT score isn't encouraging either. The fact that I like Ritchie doesn't mean that I will necessarily enjoy this film.

Prefer to save my money and watch Alien: Covenant a 2nd time in the future, or an additional viewing of Wonder Woman (if it's good).

Skywalker, we all acknowledged that King Arthur will not be a bad film. That was my only issue, people seems to suggested that it'll be a huge stinker that many will not enjoy.

I like Guy Ritchie and the movie was still really uneven.

Well, at least in this case, I'd say the problem is Guy Ritchie. His movies never feature female characters that are worth a damn, and romance is a foreign concept to him.

ORLY sir?

I cannot believe that at one time, WB was planning to do 6 movies on this.

As far as Ritchie films go, I love Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, and I admit, I love The Man From U.N.C.L.E but now I’m starting to think that Guy Ritchie may be a one trick pony. I heard of his terrible films of his past such as Revolver and Swept away which were projects he both wrote and directed. The worst Guy Ritchie film I’ve seen was Sherlock Holmes 2 which honestly I thought was a decent rental. That has now been beaten by this.

I saw this last night, and I actually contemplated walking out because the sequences just became torturous and repetitious.

Those days of Lock Stock and Snatch are way over for him. Shame.

I think he's kinda neutered himself to fit Hollywood. He's still got a unique style, but Lock, Stock and Snatch were really dirty, nasty, violent films. They had a blue collar grimey charm to them.

His more recent films are a bit too glossy and sanitised.

Saying that, I do really like his Sherlock films and RocknRolla/UNCLE are underrated.

RocknRolla is his best and it's an awesome flick! :woot:

I love the sequence with the invincible Russian bodyguards.

yeah crazy i hope we get a Excalibur remake someday but this didnt do it for me and it cost 175million this is gonna bomb hard

I think Ritchie is done. He'll never make another film like Snatch. RockNRolla felt like a lame attempt to recapture that magic, and everything since has been mediocre to bad. Not surprised that this apparently sucks.

Well he's making Aladdin, so he'll continue to get work.

Yeah I'm not a Guy Ritchie fan. Don't think I've really liked a single one of his movies.

Sadly I have to agree

Weird thing is Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch are universally praised as his best films, yet I found RocknRolla much more entertaining.
