Half Life 2 Wiimote Mod Day 22

that is truly AMAZING!

this really makes me believe that the wii will dominate as the "FUN" system and dominate the "MATURE" FPS gamer market as well!

cant wait to play it one day....

I wonder if Valve will announce a Half Life Wii game of some sort. It's funny that a mod seems to have better controls then Red Steel.

Truthfully I have yet to see a game do the Wii FPS thing well enough to convince me that it would be better then a Keyboard/mouse. I'm sure it might get there, but turning is really really akward for most wii FPS control schemes right now, and you aren't getting the same micro precision.

The sensitivity need like tweaking, and put in some software assists for aiming. Still though, it's pretty darn cool to see the 1:1 control.

I think, and I may end up being wrong, that Metroid Prime 3 will probably give us our first glimpse of what the Wii controller can do for 1st person shooters.

We'll see though.

The weird part is that for most PC FPS games the cursor/aimer is always centered and static, but in every WII FPS game or mod we've seen the Wiimote is used to directly manipulated the angle of the weapon.

I mean yeah that's neat, but wouldn't the remote work better just moving the entire screen like a mouse in a PC FPS? When you have your aimer jumping all around the screen and going off center, that makes it much ore difficult to move arround in the 3d space while keeping yourself oriented. Not to mention that they use the Wiimote for actual turning. Meaning to turn you have to literally press your pointer against the side of the screen and then reposition your cursor to fire at whatever was to the left or right or your emmediate view.

That makes it a bit more awkward then it needs to be since the anologue stick is pretty much a DPAD in terms of controls using that method, unless they somehow switch the analogue stick to using tank controls (not preferable imo).

I'd LOVE to figure out how to do this sort of thing though to mess around with control schemes.

i also think that Metroid Prime 3 will truly show the full force of the Wii in a FPS game, reviews and movie clips on it look amazing, they have really tweaked and fine tuned it so that the issues Zenien mentions are really a problem, but on that note and think some games soon will follow the trend of PC games with the static cursor location in the center, thats the safe and easy way to do it, but i think Nintendo and developers are trying to create something even better...
