The Dark Knight Hans Zimmer or James Newton Howard?

In the case of unavailability, which BB composer would you like to return for TDK?

  • Hans Zimmer

  • James Newton Howard

Voted for JNH, Zimmer is great composer, but I don't think he would be better than Howard as composer for movies like Batman.

i dont know who composed the music in batman begins, but whoever did should be the one who composes it in tdk

Mate, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard formed a partnership and composed the Batman Begins soundtrack's together.

Talk about a non fanatic!

Even better, where have you been since the first post in this thread???

I'd prefer Jimmy Newt to return if both did not.

I think they will both do it.
Wasnt BB a low budget film for Zimmer compared to what he usually does?
Makes me think he did BB for artistic reasons rather than the $$ which gives me hope he will feel the same about TDK but just get paid his worth this time ;)

one of them did primarily the pre-Batman music and the other the post-Batman music. I forget which, but whoever we get I want that same Batman main theme used.

I think JNH did the training music, while Zimmer handled Batman's part. Not too sure though...

Was there even a singular Batman theme in the film? From what I observed, there are about 4 different themes that are repeated throughout the film.

I think the "main" Batman theme was the one played throughout the tumbler chase scene.

For me, the main theme was right at the end credits, right when you see the title "Batman Begins". It was like a nice kick of adrenaline and testosterone, while being dark and heroic. Sure it had parts of Molossus, but I liked it more.

The main Batman theme (as I call it "The Heroic Theme) plays at the end of the Credits, after Bats says "Hold on" in the Tumbler Chase, and when he latches the grappling gun onto the monorail

Those are too short to be considered themes. They're called "motives". The only real theme in the movie is actually at the end credits and the Arkham scene with the bats.

No I didn't, because this thread is about the hypothetical question "WHAT IF one them DOES NOT return?". Adding a "both" option would be pointless.

why can't they both return? Yes you should have "both" option since I want both to return.

wasnt hans zimmer the orignaly suppose 2 compose BB solo....but he said he would only do it if he could have a partnership wif howard.....

but anyhoo, it seems that for musical reviews for the soundtrack, Zimmer got more credit for the music score, and plus, most of the music was more of Zimmer's style versus Howard, but dats jsut my opinion, sooo dont hate

but since hans zimmer has done movies like gladiator, last samurai, black hawk down, the rock, lion king etc.....he's definitley got my vote

i want them both to comeback for TDK.

However, if I were to choose one....it would be James Newton Howard.

Zimmer's score on Black Hawk Down was simply put, a work of genius.

I never saw BHD... but we have it at the house... I'll take a look at it. I still James Newton Howard. He did such a great score for KING KONG, Peter Pan, Signs, Unbreakable, and The Sixth Sense.

Both if possible. The BB soundtrack is very close to one on my list of favorites.

i love zimmers huge and rousing scores.

sorry james
