Yes, but you need a Data Transfer Cable. Its won't be included with your Elite system, but Microsoft will give you one for free.

Im about to purchase a used, 120 gig hard drive from Amazon or eBay and searching through some of the offers, some say thing like.

Great condition, formatted, no data transfer kit.

My question is, what does it mean by formatted? Do i need to purchase one thats been formatted? Any help would be appreciated.

When it says Formatted, they mean that they have erased all of their info from it. Things like their game saves and gamer tag info. Essentially, it's like it was when it was originally purchased. All you do is transfer your stuff over to it.
