My brother bought Madden NFL 2010,and I downloaded the game to my hard drive thinking we could both play the game online together this way,but when I select play the game from my hard drive,it says to put in the disc.

What is the purpose for downloading a game to the hard drive then?

to reduce load times. Did you really think MS would allow people to play games without a disc? What would be the point of buying games if that were the case

Haha yea, what Havok said. Why in the blue hell would MS, or any other company allow you to just download the game to the HDD and not have to use the disc? You would never have to buy another game if that were the case.

If they could download games to the HDD, surely a price is involved here? I'm pretty sure that's a revolution..

Edit - The word bought made it obvious that a price is involved, silly me.

Yup. It's been the same with PC gaming ever since CDs were used instead of floppies. Before that, it was "enter in the fourth word of line 6 from paragraph 4 from page 27 of the owner's manual".

The only way the disc isn't required when the game is installed on the Hard Drive is when you buy the game off Xbox Live. You just need the necessary points, and hard drive space. However, price drops are rare as opposed to the stores.
