Hardest Movies to watch.

I swear. When I watched 2001 during Film Study, I tried my best to stay in it. I also kept telling my friends who were bored, that it gets better (everyone on the internet said it was good), and I just couldn't. So boring.

Movies that are good but hard to watch because of the subject matter:

- Monster -- good movie that did the right thing by glossing over nothing, but I don't even need to see it again
- American History X
- K-19: The Widowmaker -- the scenes of the reactor repair are painful to watch
- Requiem for a Dream

- Lars Von Trier can be difficult to watch, but I'm not sure if he falls under "good but painful" or "bad and painful" because I think his stories can be pretty contrived to the point where he loses me.

Movies that are boring:

- 2001 -- worth seeing once, but I'm NHF films that don't have a point
- Barry Lyndon -- same deal, but not as bad; had a few worthwhile scenes and at least it looked good
- Solaris (the remake. the original was rough at times but overall it worked)
- Pirates 2 and 3

Boring/slow but still good:

- Ozu's movies -- I'm always bored during them but afterwards I look back on them fondly
- honestly, some of Kurosawa's too -- they're all good, but the pacing kills me sometimes
- Star Trek The Motion Picture

Is it weird that it's hard for me to watch the Twilight Zone movie ever since I researched, and then saw the footage of, Vic Morrow's death. I like all the parts of the film, but I usually find myself skipping through that segment because it bothers me a lot that it happened and that Landis still got the short into the film.

No, it's not weird. It means you're still a human being with a soul.

Haha, I'm on the same page. It's a movie that I just want to like, because everything about it just seems so epic and inspiring, but... It's just boring! I've tried watching it twice now, and both times I've had to stop about 70 minutes in

On Frozen Ground was a difficult watch for me because characters doing stupid stuff in films frustrates me and the subject matter which was based on a true story was very unpleasant. The movie was good though.

I just finished watching it. Oldboy. Great film, just terrifying to watch.

I die a little every time I think of the "Butt-To-Butt" scene.

In good and bad ways...:o

I watched "Love", a pretty artsy and philosophical sci-fi movie from 2011. just now finished watching it. I don't yet fully understand what it all meant, but the emotional trip I'm still on is quite something. But it is a hard one, hit or miss. I got a hit. I do recommend it. I also believe it is smarter than "being ambiguous and artsy just for the hell of it".
