Harry Potter Book 7 [SPOILERS-ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!]

He was a young slitherin...brainwashed at the start of his school year that what Voldemort was doing was right and true. So, he joined up when he was still a teen and then tried to right his wrongs. He went to Dumbledore before he killed Lily and James and spent the rest of his life trying to right what he thought was his fault for the death of Lily. He loved Lily and after she died that night, vowed to help Dumbledore protect Harry and bring down the man that killed his first love. No matter how much dislike he had for Harry, because of how much he reminded himself of James, Snape stayed tride and true to Dumbledore, Hogwarts, and his word. His methods weren't always obvious, but they were right. For those reasons, Snape made me sad after he died, and died over something extremely stupid because of what Voldemort thought.

he was a vulnerable, insecure and weak person. Then, when he knew how wrong he was, he turned into one of the breavest (or the breavest) character.

when I was reading the book I thought: "this guy is Che Guevara all over again! he started a f****ing guerilla in Howarts! Awesome!" lol

When Harry and Ginny's children were conceived, Ginny was thinking of Neville. So was Harry.

Voldemort didn't light the Sorting Hat on fire; the Sorting Hat combusted because it touched Neville Longbottom.

I'm happy it didn't do some things that were expected, because in all honesty, the Neville Bellatrix faceoff would be too cliche to me of 'You killed my parents, now I'll kill you!' and though I didn't like their deaths, Remus and Tonks deaths would have been great to read, but remember, we're reading from Harry's/sometimes Voldy's standpoint. He didn't know they died till he saw their bodies because he didn't witness the deaths, which is why they didn't get a death scene in the book. Maybe in the movie they'll get one, but it's fine in the book the way it is.

I agree with those thoughts about Remus and Tonks' death. I think a main character or two had to die "offscreen", Harry can't be around whenever someone close to him dies or someone he knows there to tell him the story (in the case of Mad Eye). We had what 50 people that died in the battle of Hogwarts, you need to put a face on some of them and Remus, Tonks and Colin were the faces.

So I have trouble pitying someone who dug his own grave and treats 11 year old children like **** simply because he has a grudge.

Well, that's sort of the point, don't you think? No one is SUPPOSED to pity Snape. He is supposed to be the ass, and the one you suspect. Because if he had a soft spot his "cover" would have been blown. Snape wasn't a good man. No one ever taught him how to be one. He was however a man with honor, his own twisted honor, but honor nonetheless, and he defended that honor till the end.

I can't see anyone being brought to tears/saddened by his death, especially since we didn't have the most important info about his character yet. Maybe after "The Prince's Tale" you feel sad about Snape, but not before, I always thought he was good, but I didn't have that one vital piece of information that made me pity him until after his death scene.

It's almost the same way as Sirious' death, the death wasn't definitive enough to be sad, plus there was so many other things going on at the time. However, when you read about the aftermath, Harry talking to Dumbledore, trying to use the mirror and asking Nearly Headless Nick about ghosts, that's when it hits me. I always just sort of felt numb when I read abouta character's death in Harry Potter, not sad, but the aftermath when the Harry deals with the feelings the death brings is when I feel sad (well I sad as you can about a ficitional character).

i was saddened by his death because his life sucked. His parents argued all the time, they set a bad example so when he met lily he didn't know how to act around her,he was poor, he was bullied and humiliated by the man who would eventually marry and have a child with the woman snape was in love with, he had to see that child every day looking like the man he hated but having the eyes of the woman he loved, he was used by dumbledore who didn't care as long as the plan succeeded, the woman he loved died because of what he told voldemort(which in no way did he think could apply to the potters) and he died before his time (rowling says he's 36!) Now thats tragic and despite the fact he was an ass throughout the series the reasoning behind it make his character a tragic hero

See, but most of your reasoning are things you learn about the character after his death.

Don't play the "Snape was a victim" card. He chose to be evil to begin with. And he didn't change. He simply switched sides to get revenge because what he wanted was taken from him. And you can say "He was evil because he was abused and brainwashed" but that is a load. Harry had a life just as hard, if not harder than Snape. He was poor, was mentally and physically abused, and yet he overcame. Became a good person despite that. Snape took the easy way. He made his choice and he suffered the consequences of it. I admire his loyalty to Dumbledore, but doing the right thing for the wrong reasons (desire to avenge Lily) is still wrong.

The problem with the movie is, the book is so uneven. Literally, the first half is them sitting in tents having expository conversations where as the second half is literally non stop action. It works as a book, but will feel very uneven as a movie.

Perhaps for some of the articles pertaining to Dumbledore's youth, flashback type scenes would be in order.

Well, the book starts off with what is going to be a great action sequence, but after that, it's mostly the Holy Trinity (as I like to call them) figuring out what to do with their mission. Literally months pass while they travel in, sleeping in that tent at night, and not much happens until Ron returns and Harry finds the sword in the river. Then everything picks up, they begin piecing things together, etc.

I imagine they'll cut down the middle a bit, possibly even leaving out the whole subplot of the Rita Skeeter book about Dumbledore, or at least not making it as prevelent.

All I know is they have a rough time ahead of them making this film.

There are some battles in the beginning. I think it would look great as movie.

^The 7 potters chase sequence will be amazing. Voldemort flying without a broom will be freaky. I can see a dark cloud like a comet's tail but jet black flowing underneath him and his black cloak. It will be creepy.
