Harry Potter Book 7 [SPOILERS-ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!]

Oooh! I have a question!

When Voldemort originally AK'd Harry as a baby (which was deflected back onto himself) he was rendered incorporeal, NOT DEAD. So, he didn't need to use any of his horcruxes (as Harry and da crew would then only have to have destroyed 6 objects including the diary).

What was to stop him being merely rendered incorporeal again, ready to rise at a later date when his final AK was reflected back?

Ideas? Have I forgotten something?

He doesn't "use" horcruxes, per say. They keep him alive. They allow him to become incorporeal when he should be killed. Its not like "Opps, part of me was killed so I'll use my soul in the diadem now." The way I see it is, they keep the part of the soul inside him bound to earth when it should be passing on.

Aaaaahhhhh. Woah. Thats totally different to what I thought (you pretty much summed up my thoughts [in bold]), but makes total sense. Cheers Matt.

Here's a question for you:

(by the way I'm a big Potter fan so just wanted to know.)

What was the signifigance of Hogwarts teachers having spouses?

I don't think any of them did have spouses, probably pretty tough to have a husband/wife when you're spending most of your year at a school.

 thats just the way I've always seen it, anyhow.

Rowling said she was going to address the issue, but she never did.

I think with the floo network, Hogsmeade so close by, and going outside of the grounds to apparate, it wouldn't be impossible for a Hogwarts teacher to have a family and not live at the school, but it seems most of them do choose to live on campus.

I personally think James Potter may have been Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher for a year (leading up to his death). Again, Rowling said she was going to address what the Potters did for a living, but never did. All the more reason I'd like to see that note book of hers. So many unanswered questions that didn't really fit into the narrative of the book.

Yeah, I'm sure she has all those answers, she just couldn't figure out how to fit them into the book. I hope she publishes some kind of encyclopedia that answers a lot of those unanswered questions.

I'm guessing she'll publish it in the near future before the Potter mania dies down.

Don't be so oblivious, of course the encyclopedia will be released as a tie in to the Deathly Hallows movie.

Though by that time, I'm sure some will be sick of the Potter magic (I know plenty are already).

Yeah, I know plenty of people have to be sick of it by now, I mean, only 8.2 million books were sold in the first 24 hours, that's gotta be some kinda record for the lowest book sales in history...

:whatever:

I said "some". That doesn't exactly imply millions, does it? Actually there are a good number of people in London who are anti-Potter, I'm just saying JK Rowling might start to get on a few nerves milking the entire franchise.

Yeah between the movie and the theme park opening in 09 or 2010, i'm sure the encyclopedia will be released around then.

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but--

at the end, how did Neville get the Sword of Gryffindor?

Only a "true Gryffindor" can pull the sword, meaning somone who has courage and bravery. Pulling the sword vallidated Neville being in Gryffindor House, much like standing up to the trio in TPS and accompanying them to the ministy in OOTP. More of him living up to his folks, really.

There are people who are anti-anything that is popular. And I hardly think Rowling writing an encyclopedia for CHARITY is milking a franchise.

And jsut a little addendum...why on Earth would anyone be anti-Potter? It is a relatively harmless book that has gotten millions of children reading again. Children who would otherwise never touch a book. How can anyone look down upon a book series that has accomplished such a feat? Simply so someone on the internet can say "HAHA THY SUX! PWNED!"? It is ridiculous. I can get being against Pokemon or N'Sync or the countless pieces of garbage that are fed to society every day...but a book that has made so many literate? It is ridiculous.

Then again, these are the same people *****ing about how stupid today's children are :whatever:

"They are wrong, so there can be a right"

Just made that up I think it sounds pretty good

A lot of people dislike the franchise because there are "witches" :whatever:.

How does a person get sick of it unless you're a fan who gets tired of it? They're books, it's not like it's a song that keeps playing on the radio or something. By it being popular do you constantly have to read pages of it?

What makes me laugh is you have to know that the little goblin that tried so hard at Gringott's to get it away from Harry is pissed that it reverted by to its true master, Godric, and now lies in the hat that Neville pulled it out off.

Easily. When the first film was coming out, I dismissed the Harry Potter franchise as an overhyped kid fest. The hype surrounding the film and all the craziness going on pushed me to the edge of frustration. It was EVERYWHERE, non-stop.

I decided that arrogance / ignorance was not the way to go, so begrudgingly read the first book. One of the best decisions I ever made. But, I can still see the problems 'muggles' have with HP.
