I was wondering if there are any published interviews with the Siegel family. If there were, we might just have a better idea of what they plan to do as it pretains to working with DC or just letting the character die.

It's do a deal time. As I've said before because both the WB and the Siegels want to continue making money from Superman.

That would be verrrrrrry interesting..............

Yeah it would. hell, this whole fiasco would make a good read or film.

I'm sure their lawyers told them no interviews.

I doubt they will give any interview any time soon.

All this is very weird. Of course Siegel and Shuster has rights, but lets face it. Superman wouldnt be 10% of what it is today without DC. They invested a huge amount of money on this character to make it what it is today.

Oh, well.. im sure they will have an agreement of some kind. Pay more for Siegel family or something. At the end, its everything about the money.

Lets go one better then that. Just blow up Metropolis with everyone in it. Have there be a villian that Superman couldn't stop and be the one time he couldn't save everyone. It would make for a great story. Another way to do it is, have a villian that changes the past so that Superman never came to earth and there was never anyone from his history. ( no Lois, Metropolis, Jimmy, Daily Planet or anything)

Or DC can just pay royalties and license the character.

Or the Siegels and Schusters can stop being greedy bastards....
To be fair. They do deserve money since their ancestors created Superman but they sold him off. Bad business decision.

Yea i know i read online the sigels have bad blood with wb/dc comics if i recall. I dont know anything about shuster's family members that are still alive feel about the whole siegels/shusters/wb-dc comics. In the end i really do hope things can work out and some agreement is made and wb/dc just pay some reasonable license fee to keep the character 100% intact. But who knows how things will go. But looking right now us fans are the ones who could be screwed alot from all these court battles.

Which is why DC should be using the comics to rile up the fans in their favor.
They can kill Supes off and nuke Metropolis killing everyone. Say Darkside does it.
A one time use weapon that Darkside uses against his most hated foe

I believe it is called the scorched earth strategy in warfare.
So when S & S request to but characters and concepts (everything after Action Comics #1 including Lex Luthor), DC can just say, "Sorry! They are all dead and you know the fans! They hate discountiuity".

Thus the estate will be left with a bare bones character that they will be able to do nothing with.

I do wonder how things will play out and will the families try and take other elements like perry/jimmy/lex/kryptonite....... that dc owns fully themselfs that came many many many years and many many writers after siegel/shuster's run of the character.

I'm sure their legal team is advising them to keep on the down-low, until all the proprietary rights and challenges/court decisions, are concluded.

It should be pretty easy to follow that line, when 100s of millions of dollars are on the line.

Yup that is probably the case. Though i would really love to see how both families do feel about the character, and to the dc fans and would they seriously take their elements and run or not. I hope in the end come 2013 we are all sitting hear happy and superman is still fully intact for another 20-30 yrs when it then officially goes into public domanin right?

I was going to...but then they told me that they wanted money for every time I mentioned Superman in the interview.

A funny thought here, but when the families retain ALL the rights, what about sites like this that have tons of superman material on them.

hmmm that is a good question. I guess it wouldnt really matter i guess cause their is hundreds/thousands of superman related websites out their. They just cant shut them all down i think. Though we need to just wait and see come 2013 what the heck will happen with the families, what they will be doing with what the have the rights too, and then what is means to wb/dc comics and if superman would still be 100% their or not.
