Has the MCU peaked?

GOTG3 is gonna do well and I believe Secret Invasion and Loki S2 are going to be well liked D+ series. So Marvel is gonna walk into The Marvels on a winning steak, and we will sew how that movie does. I can see it not equalling CM's box office, but if it does WF numbers, that's still a profit. Plus they still have SM4 coming, Born Again, Deadpool 3 etc. Still many bangers coming

I don't know about Secret Invasion and Loki season 2 TBH, especially Secret Invasion. I think they had the element of surprise with cameos from the MCU but with most of the OG's gone, it's kind of out of the window. I maybe wrong about Loki2 as well but Kang isn't going as planned. The Marvels? Honestly, unless they bring their A game, it maybe do Antman 3 numbers. It has so much against it including the main actress who is very unlikable.

Loki's 1st season was one of the best performers on D+. S2 is gonna be big. Secret Invasion has had encouraging buzz, so I see that being very over with people.

Now, onto the Brie thing. Amongst male fanboys who are easily triggered, maybe they don't like her. But they movie didn't carry a billion by accident. That movie was very over with little girls, considering it was the first female headlined MCU movie. The female demo is gonna do well for it. It's gonna do way better than Quantummania. The best performing Ant-Man film made just over 600 mil WW. Captain Marvel about doubled that. It ain't gonna drop by 800 mil. We may see a drop. WF saw the largest MCU sequel drop. But it still ended up over 800 mil WW, which I think is the basement floor for The Marvels.

At this point, i just want to see Blade and Fantastic 4 do big numbers at the boX office, given that they didn't really perform that close compare to the X-Men and Spider-Man in the 2000s. Though the first Fantastic 4 film did well despite the reviews.

Guardians is fine. Its the last film for them (that we know of). Marvels is a sequel to a billion dollar grossing film and should be fine. Deadpool will be fine. Avengers 5 and 6 will perform big regardless how phase 5 and 6 movies turned out to be.

I don't care about Captain America 4 since its a legacy character film. While Thunderbolts is consisting of supporting characters we have seen too many times before. I don't think there's a lot riding on those two films.

X-Men and the sequels for Shang-Chi, Eternals, Multiverse of Madness and Wakanda Forever should come out in the not so distant future. But the X-Men is The one to watch out as that would really open to a lot of possibilities to the future of the MCU.

So Guardians is projecting to make around $130M opening weekend.......................how TF is that considered a disappointment?!

I want to see what the actual end up being, but I think some would see it as disappointing cause GOTG2 opened to close to $150 mil. So signs look like it may come in under GOTG2's BO, but again I like hard data as opposed to hypothetical data, so I want to see what the actual OW ends up being, the RT percentage, the Cinemascore, all that jazz

$120 million will be a decline from GOTG2's opening especially if we adjust the numbers from 2017. But this is the last GOTG film anyway that I don't think it would be a big deal to Disney.

Damn speaking of 2017, that is such a long time thinking about it. Similar to how we got DS2 just last year with the first one being a 2016 film.

The pandemic didn't help but yeah, these gaps are long for sequels.

True, they care about the numbers, but at least with it being a final film it won't be impacting on the numbers for future Guardians films for eg.

F4 and X-Men doing well could be important to the structure/foundation of the future MCU. Most of the others can contribute to keeping Avengers as a big event film too. Hoping for a turnaround back to consistent success asap.

Plus the firing of James Gunn contributed to the long gap.

However, with how things are shaping right now, it looks like Marvel Studios is continuing the long gap with the sequels for Avengers, Shang-Chi, Eternals, Doctor Strange and Black Panther.

I don't want that for Fantastic 4 and X-Men but there's nothing to do about it but be patient for years. 3 years should be the maXimum.

Hope so, too. I want my Gambit back on the big screen.:D

I would say more like a lull!! Maybe be a somewhat dip!! AS SOON as fantastic 4 and x-men start dropping in and honk marvel/disney will take it f again!!
If they get those 2 right, and also have a decent New/Young Avengers team going, all the excitement will come flooding back.

Can you believe its been almost 15 years since Origins Wolverine?

Anyway I'd like to see all main and b-tier X-Men in full glory in the mcu. Looking like they literally came out of the comic pages.
Yeah, glad you mentioned the b-tier too. We have time now and shows as well as films to intro characters, plus some important gaps to fill after the MCU has lost some important characters. Plenty of room now to introduce X-Men slowly and give them great coverage across their top tier and supporting characters.

Yeah, Marvel definitely peaked and is going through a lull as stated above. Comic book movies are here to stay and have already become part of the norm.

And, as with any other incredibly popular genre, there will be booming periods of awe and others that are slower and less bombastic. It happens.

I do agree that F4 & X-Men have incredible potential to spark a lot of interest, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that both are handled expertly.

Yep, peaks and troughs are natural. Time to start the fight back and gradual rise back to the next set of big events. Marvel definitely want to nail the 2 big Avengers events and need to start putting some momentum together.

Getting those Fox rights has opened up the path to the future having a lot of as yet unrevealed legit big guns (including villains) to give things a big boost.

I don't know man.........if that Thing and Mila Kunis rumor is true................you talk about killing something before it starts..............I don't know how you could trust them with F4 at that point.

I agree with both of you honestly. I truly think Marvel is capable of building up to an excellent finale again if they get back to what made the initial set-up work so well. Not necessarily to copy it, just replicate the experience with new characters.

I'm hoping with everything in me that the Mila Kunis rumor isn't true. I'm genuinely against gender swapping in live action depictions because I feel like it just makes no sense. Better to create a new character than to drastically change one for no reason other than to be different.

Ben Grimm is a fan favorite and deserves a faithful adaptation within the MCU.

Dam didn’t realize Mika Juno’s and Ben Grimm thing yeah that could lower the peak a smidge but m going on faith marvel/Disney will make the right moves!! But fingers crossed!! lol
