Has the MCU peaked?

Wait, What ? You've seen THE BATMAN.... :wow:
They showed the preview before The Eternals. It looked pretty interesting. This is a no Fing around version of Batman from what I could tell.

If you go see The Eternals, you can probably see it too. :cwink:

See what you did there. Not biting ;):funny:

It does look really good though. Have you checked out the trailer?

Facts! Now they are coming out with an Echo, Agatha Harkness and Riri show...........for what?! None of that sounds interesting. The only show that interest me now is Moon Knight. And some people may consider it hating but it's not. It's frustration with the plans they have in place. But I really want to see the people who excuse Eternals box office because of covid when Spiderman comes out.

Your tastes aren't universal.

I've seen what's been released but not any special 'preview' as such.
Not to get too off track, but the movie preview was, I think, more extensive than the trailer, but am not 100% sure.

See what I mean about people taking things the wrong way simply because you don't bow to a certain franchise. :whatever: Never once did I say it was but as a diehard Marvel fan I'm saying what a few are thinking.

SM was ALWAYS going to make a LOT more than Eternals, Shang-Chi, GotG, etc. It's a platinum CB property. Not a good comparison, but there's no doubt in my mind that COVID will hold back the BO. How much will never be determined.
Not a bad comparison at all. The point I'm making is that if people WANTED to see a movie, they would no matter what. Eternals is not that movie because it is not a top tier Marvel brand. If they push the right franchise, people will absolutely go. See Shang Chi, which is D list as well but I REALLY believe the villain being an IronMan one played a small part along with the Asian audience.

Yeah, you're such a misinterpreted victim. You never said your tastes are universal, you only said any use of lesser known characters is scraping the bottom of the barrel, that that's a Very Bad Thing and that its 'Facts!' that phase four has been entirely boring and has no interesting projects in the pipeline, and that it would have been far better for them to just reboot the entire MCU after Endgame (because it would be such a *brilliant* idea to instantly end multiple billion dollar franchises just because Tony Stark and Steve Rogers aren't around anymore - and the ASM saga certainly taught us all how much *everyone* loves a totally unexpected reboot).

And that's just in the last two pages. You go off on this subject all the time and you pretty much never act like you're even remotely aware that there are tons of people out there who have no problem at all with the current MCU.

For the people who really care about whether the character is considered A-list, B-list, C-list, D-list. What would you say is Marvel's most recent original A-list character? (Meaning a character that's fully original and not just someone taking a previous character's mantle or being a variation on a previous character). What about B-list?

Sorry for replying to a thread asking if the MCU has peaked and giving my opinion. I guess I should just say usual, generic reply: "Heck no! Marvel is to big to fail!" or........"they turned Guardians of the Galaxy into a household name so they can do the same with anything"....................That's cool right?

No, definitely not.
Every Disney plus show is different imho.
Hawkeye delivered again and is the 2nd best after Loki. Eternals was everything I hoped for anf still ambitious and new.
Not much interested in NWH ( tough spidey and DS are my favorite MCU heroes besides Iron Man)
And also looking forward to Moon Knight, MOM, Thor L&T and those Halloween & Holiday specials. Forgot Secret Invasion lol. And Blade, Quantumania, Fanstatic 4…
So, no.

For me as long as the MCU continues to tell compelling stories and has great character development, I will continue to watch it. Granted not everything (and the jury is still out on whether or not I will watch Secret Invasion as I am not a fan of the Skrulls) but a lot of it. I don't care whether or not the CGI is bad or good, because that's not what I am paying attention to when I watch the MCU. The jokes in the MCU don't upset me like it does with most people, as long as it doesn't deflect from the overall story.

The “other one”.
Shades of Encanto.
We don’t talk about Eternals, lol.

SpiderMan IMO, is the only A list character Marvel ever had. Before the MCU hit, all other characters were overshadowed by DC comic characters. B list? Hulk and I can't think of another off the top of my head. C list? IM, CA, Thor, Thing, maybe Human Torch or Dr. Strange. Post MCU, most of the C list characters have been elevated and I think that's the plan for phase 4. Whether that's a success or not is another thing, but it's certainly possible to pull it off.

EDIT: forgot about X-Men. I'd call them maybe a B list group with Wolverine at the top of that heap. More popular than FF or Avengers, but that's clearly changed for Avengers and could for FF.

It has certainly hit a bump in the road.
Shhhh..........you can't give an opinion without being labeled something.........

DC only has 2 characters and that is Batman and Superman. That's it. It's 1A)Batman 1B)Spiderman 3)Superman and then everyone else. Wonder Woman has fallen down to Hulk/Wolverine level right now.........with IronMan and Cap in that same category.
Sorry to be so dramatic but it has always irked me when people say that DC characters are icon when they only have 2 that people really know of.

PRIOR to MCU, I think SM was really the only Marvel character that was as, or more, popular as a LOT of DC characters. I would include WW, in those characters for sure and quite possibly SuperGirl, Green Lantern, and maybe a few others. Now, some of those I could see being Hulk level characters, but Iron Man?? Captain America??? Dr. Strange??? No way were they, AT THAT TIME, on a par with many DC CB characters.

Post MCU IM, everything changed.

Nope. I heard that argument but it just isn't true. DC has only marketed 2 characters and that is Batman and Superman since the 70's. It's why Marvel was able to use characters like the X-men and Wolverine to pass the Flash and Green Lantern. DC is very top heavy with characters like Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman in the next tier but Green Lantern and Flash were not as popular as people think.
PS- doesn't Supergirl technically count as Superman? That's like saying the Hulk and She Hulk don't fall under the same branch.

Well, to paraphrase you......

Excuse me for expressing my opinion....I know better now. :gibbs::cwink:

And no, they don't fall under the same branch. Quite different in terms of popularity....which is what I was discussing.

Has it peaked? Of course it has. When you up yourself with literally 20 heroes in 1 movie...there is no where else to go but down before you can rebuild again.

Secret Wars???? X-Men, FF, Avengers, etc.???

It may have peaked for now but it peaked before with Avengers and that peak doesn't seem so high now. There will be other major end of phase events and then end of multiple phase events that could be on the level of IW/EG and even surpass them, especially when the X-Men are also a staple of the universe.
