I was at this restaurant with my friend, and his friend (who's a female) joins us. Everything's is good then he goes to the bathroom and all of a sudden she starts talking to me using slang, in other words "talking black", which was funny because she was talking normally the whole time until that point; as if I'm suppose to respond to that just because I'm black.

Have you ever had someone act funny around you for one reason or another; whether because of race, money, or something else?

Females often start talking sexy when they get me on my own.

Weird. :csad:

Nope. You're the only one that's ever happened to.
You're a pioneer.

Occassionally I've heard my younger sister start talking "dumb blonde" around guys (and yes there is such a thing, and yes she's a blonde with blue eyes). I just look at her and shake my head in disbelief.

and here I thought I was the only one

Well I have used "Me spek no engles" and "New to Kanada" with an Indian accent on Jehovah's witnesses and other solicitors ;)

I start cursing like no other when somebody who objects leaves the room

I start speaking in tongues when I'm around real strict fundamentalists...they never get it.

Yeah that's happened to me and my friends before. It's like that episode of Reno 911 when some random dude goes up to Deputy Jones and gives him dap.

"'What up blood?' You don't know me. I hate that I naturally--it was natural for me, and I naturally gave him dap." :o

My ex always changes his behavior depending on who he's with. It's downright annoying.

And I know a lot of girls who act dumb and ditzy around guys. I guess it gets them guys, but I ain't gonna lower myself to dumb and ditzy to get one, thank you very much.

As a black man I can say I had this happen before and I just don't respond to it.

What you should do is talk "redneck" back at them. ;)

I was in an Asian store in Florida looking at the swords and the employee working there not Asian, starts chatting me up and asks me if I understand all the writing here.

I gave her an abrupt no, but if I was a lil quicker on my feet I should have told her yes and say, Yeah, and point to various objects around the store and say this is a recipe for Beef with Brocolli, this is list of all Bruce Lee Movies.

This is why you're popular on a message board and not in real life.

So your ex was like Buckwild from Flavor Of Love?

I usually avoid people like that.

Just a reminder to everyone out there: nobody who speaks Ebonics puts the word "yo" at the end of a sentence. It's usually used at the beginning to catch attention, or thrown in the middle for emphasis.

Whenever someone tries to "talk black" with me, I continue to use my regular, suburbanized, "white washed", geeky voice. It usually snaps them out of it, if they don't normally talk that way. If they do normally talk that way (and I can usually tell), I start absorbing the ghetto slang like a sponge, and end up using it, myself. Such is the problem with being a black man who spent his childhood split between 'da hood' and the suburbs.

my wife started talking like that on my honeymoon.:(

actually it wasn't my wife, but that 2$ hooker.

this is the equivalent of two people of the same country origin, speaking in it to one another once they are in their own company

it happens all the time...sometimes in the very presence of those who don't understand (which i sometimes think is fairly rude)

Maybe she was letting her TRUE way of speaking come out when she was with you...................
