I had never seen the Mary Smith thing before. That's crazy. I'm definitely looking forward to this game now.

Famitsu has apparently given Heavy Rain a Japanese release date of February 8, 2010, reports IGN. Japan is receiving a specific localized version of the title, so it's unclear whether this means the game will be released earlier or later in other territories; however, it's unusual for a Western-developed title to land on Japanese shelves first.

We contacted SCEA and were told the company has not "made any announcements on Heavy Rain's [release] date in North America." Yes, right, we know, that's why we're emailing ...

This could mean we may very well be in for a release sooner rather than later...

it's stange that there is no release date. i'd read that review copies had gone out. maybe they are giving themselves time to do multiple submissions to ratings boards. so they can cut the game as little as possible for different regions.

its really not a good sign bc if people dont know its coming out, then they cant buy it. Release dates need to be revealed months in advance and if its coming out within the next 2 months, then they should have said something already. Thats just basic marketing to build up hype and give people some time to plan on getting it.

Admittedly the whole Japan release date is somewhat odd. Usually Western games don't come out first in the land of the rising sun. It could be inaccurate, unless the fact that the game is being published by Sony has something to do with it.

Awesome. I hope they stick with just a simple origami image for the US version as well. That image with the origami and the "How far would you go to save someone you love?" tagline was my desktop wallpaper for a while. It creates a really cool murder mystery tone for the game.

Interesting that the UK Amazon also lists February as a release date. Wonder if that's just speculation (maybe even based off the supposed Japanese date) or if some there might be some date slipping going on.

Ditto, it's basically the same thing, but the the way the origami is rendered plus the rain effect is much cooler looking than the NA version. Though, it's not bad.

Funny you say that , because that is exactly what I thought when I saw it. They had to add the newspaper in the background that says "murdered" and "another killing" and sterilize the font for us poor Americans.

I dont mind the art, but I hate all those awards on the cover. Makes it look really tacky and makes it too busy. That stuff should be saved for the back of the box
