So I played the demo just now. I'm really intrigued by this game. I've only read a little about the game but it seems like something I might like, if it doesn't get too slow/boring. Is it worth buying? Should I wait to get it used or rent it?
Most definetly a buy but then again IM very biased. Ive been waiting years for this and absolutely love it. For me its the Game of the Year for 2010. Yes I know its extremely early, but looking at the releases for the rest of the year theres really nothing Im really looking forward to or pumped for as much as I was for Heavy Rain. I used to play the hell out of the past FF games but cant even get myself focused enough to play much of FFXIII bc Im so into HR. I love playing the game. I love talking about it. I just love the entire experience. Its my favorite game on the PS3 and of this generation and I can say that without any hesitation.

Next time I play, (which will be my 5th time) Im going to play it in French with English subtitles to see how that alters my experience. Should be interesting

With the reveal of PlayStation Move, the question on everyone's minds is whether or not Heavy Rain will be updated to take advantage of the motion controller.

While Quantic Dream is quiet on the topic, we do know that the developer had originally designed Heavy Rain with a motion controller in mind. But taking it a step further, David Cage revealed to me that they went as far to design a working motion controller, specifically for the title.

Designed for two hands, the controls were to allow for full interaction with the on-screen environment. While he didn't go into any great detail, he calls it "very different" than Sony's upcoming motion controller. Cage talks about this, he taps the back of both hands to visually describe the concept. I'm reminded somewhat of ARI, the fictional virtual reality device used by Heavy Rain's Norman Jayden.

The controller was eventually shelved, as Quantic Dream came to the conclusion that designing a device to work with one game "wouldn't make sense." As for whether or not he feels motion controls are the next step for what they're trying to accomplish, he's not entirely convinced, but is interested to see how it could work.

"I wouldn't say it's the next step," he tells me. "It's... something we will look at with some interest. We want to see if it's possible to create something that's not family entertainment or casual games, to see if it's possible to use it in the context of a more serious experience."

Played the game a little this morning and my mom came and watched..she doesnt like video games but liked watching this one

Just be careful with the nude showers (male and female) lol. It's not overly gratuitous like it is in other games, actually IMO it's handled nicely, but still...nudity + parental figure = akward.

Something like that happened to me when I first started getting into anime. I set down to watch Wicked City, which to those who've watched it...it's basically a step away from hentai/animated tentacle weird **** porn (which I didn't know at the time), and my uncle said he had seen me watching a few animes and was curious about them. He set down to watch it, and about 15 mins in the atmosphere was akward enough he said, "I'll just come back later"...lol. He's one of those cool hippie type uncles, but no desire to repeat that again. Pointless obligatory embarrassing story out of the way :).

I remember a hilarious moment from way back, when I and a couple friends played Larry Magna *** Laude together. The game was just totally silly and we laughed our asses off. Then there was the Mission when we had to take pictures of that one dude shaking his schlong, to use them and bribe another woman or something like that. Then my friend's dad walked into the room. :funny:

yeah I stopped the game at a scene where a chick woke up in her underwear

Hmmm, so it does seem like people are really enjoying this game and consider it a buy. Once I have some more solid funds I'll probably pick it up. Thanks for the answers guys.

yeah i was playing through last week and my mom decided she wanted to spend some quality time with us upstairs and watch me play....right when its time to strip for Paco . ive watched R-rated content with my parents for years now and even a boob flash in a movie gives me a queezy feeling in my stomach, so there was no way i was gonna sit there and try to explain the reasoning for interactively stripping a girl for a sleezy club owner in order to get information from him....so i paused the game and acted liked i had to use the bathroom until she left.

Not sure if you know this, but if you immediately select the lamp option the first chance you get Madison will start dancing without taking too much off. This is also how you get a trophy.

Good lord, the worst idea Ive read for this game on another board is someone wanting the next tile to feature co op. Why do people feel the need to want multiplayer in everything?

yeah co-op needs to stop. unless its good like the uncharted one. but generally STOP! its like this motion control thing.

....I.......

.....why?

I am litterally lost on why multiplayer would even enter your mind for this game. It's like asking a friend to read all the odd numbered chapters of a novel while you read all the even numbered ones while setting in the same room.

Ppl are saying all over the net that they have ppl just come in, set down, and watch them play. It's like watching a movie. As far as multiplayer can go in this game is letting someone else watch you and play back seat driver to some of the decisions. People really are going overboard with multiplayer. Not everything has to have a co-op or online function, I think ppl that think that way more and more are going to start missing out on some really amazing single player games.

Bought this and MGS4 (yes, finally) today. I probably won't start this until after MGS but regardless I'm excited

For those who are still haveing issues with the game, a patch was just released to fix all issues.

Thought of you when I read about it. You were waiting for it since launch. I have no idea why it took so long.

Im going to wait to see what the feedback on it is before I install it. I dont want it corrupting the saves I have bc I still dont have the platinum

Just finished my first play through last night. This game is awesome! It's like playing a really good novel in a video game. Every time I finish a chapter, I want to know what happens next so I play just a little more and end up getting sucked in for another two hours.

I made a lot of morally good decisions and [BLACKOUT]beat the game with all four characters still alive! Yeah! [/BLACKOUT]After some God of War 3 I'll give this baby another play through where I make some desperate and immoral choices. I Imagine I'll have to play this game like five times if I want to see everything.

I had one freeze up near the end of the game but it didn't hurt my save or anything. So I should probably get that patch before I play again.

I played the demo and I think I'm into it!

If I had the time (cuz I DO has the muni), I'd get it ASAP..

I still first want to play LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted 2, and Assassin's Creed 2 first.. :(

"Heavy Rain has birthed a new genre" Love that. I hope more developers take note of this games impact on the industry and that we see more games created with influence from it. HR had great concepts and was pretty innovative, but at the same time was limited in its approach. It will be interesting to see how others expand upon what it had to offer and improve and advance what could very well be a new gaming genre

I wonder what it means for Epic specifically. It'd blow my mind if Epic eventually made an interactive drama like Heavy Rain. I mean, seriously, Epic?
