I need a new unit.A 2.5 ton to be exact.
So the quote I got was for $6,855 , Thats for a new unit, installation, a 5 year warranty ($ 500)And I need some breaker work done to get me to 80 amps($350)I dont need any duct work.
Now, Ive never had central air before I dont know wtf a realistic quote is.However if you take into account that the unit itself is between $1500 and $2000 then the rest is for what ? Installation?
I'm going to get other quotes but what am I looking at realistically?

Always get other quotes.

I've heard of central air going well passed $10,000, but that had to be for running the duct work too. I wish I could give you what ours ran, but our house already had central air when we bought it. Got to love the central air.

I would think that price that was quoted seems about the norm depending on where you live too.

How long did they say it would take to install it?
