I've been reading a lot of back issues with the goal to fully understand Secret Wars when it becomes available on Marvel Unlimited. One of the things I want to do is read Ultimate Spider-Man. With Miles Morales's new series, it seems particularly relevant.
My idea is that I should start with Ultimate Peter Parker. That being said, I'm not sure I have time to read 180 or so issues (even with Bendis's decompressed style probably making it a quicker reader). So my question is this, what are the essential stories? By that, I mean either stories that are either really good or stories that include important back-story or development for other arcs. I've seen some recommendations, so I'm trying to figure it out, but it's hard to figure out what's important without reading everything first (which defeats the point).
