I don't know if anyone knows anything about phones, but I have a Siemens Gigaset 4000 Classic, a portable home phone, and its display won't stop blinking. When I picked it up off the couch this morning, it was dead, no display, so I pressed and held down the red hang-up button, and it made a sound and started blinking at me. Normally when this happens, what I THINK I do is just place it back down on its base. When it registers with the battery charger, it normally stops blinking, I THINK. But today, that didn't happen. I placed it back down on its base, and instead of making the sound it normally makes that indicates that its registered with the battery charger, it made no sound, and the display has so far never stopped blinking. Also, the symbol that shows how much charge the battery has is showing empty, and it's not going up at all.
This is the only home phone I have. I really don't want to have to resort to using my cellphone for every call. So does anyone know what the problem may be? Is there a certain button combination I have to press? Do I have to replace the battery? Or is the phone simply dying?
