Hi, I just got my xbox repaired and when it was sent back, I got a free 1 month subscription to Xbox live (Gold card).

Now, I'm not sure how to connect my modem to my xbox. I have wireless broadband. Can my Xbox sense the connection? If not, do I need to buy one of those wireless connector things that sell for $169? Is there a place where I can buy a wireless connector thing for less than $169?

    Please help!

If you intend to use your wireless then yes you will need the wireless adapter for your xbox. I believe there are a couple of 3rd party adapters on the market for the xbox, try ebay, you might get lucky :)
