Heroic Age

Avengers Academy seems more like a Young Avengers thing, to me.

I'd rather see Pym as he is right now, leading and kicking rearside, while doing his best to save the world like he is right now.

As it stands, Pym is hands down one of the best characters Marvel has to offer right now.

IGN Comics: We've seen some Secret Avengers press releases too.

Tom Brevoort: Ah, okay. I wasn't sure where we were at with that. But yes, Secret Avengers, which will be Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato… a very crucial book for us, very important book. Those are the two in May, and in June, there are two more. There's a little secret thing. There's two now, and then there's two more in June. That will make up the current new tapestry of the Avengers titles. People are going to go, "Oh my gosh, four books, that's way too many!"

IGN Comics: But that's what you guys have now...

Tom Brevoort: That's exactly what we have now. Rather than having New and Mighty and Dark and Initiative, we'll have Avengers and Secret Avengers and [two more]. In terms of moving things around, it also gives you a chance to take a second look at what you're doing, to keep yourself from getting stale, to introduce new elements that can kick storylines in different directions.

It's actually kind of a fun and exciting thing to do. And hazardous as well. We kicked around these Avengers plans probably up to, in terms of solidifying them, up to about as late in the process as we possibly could have done. We had one plan that we all really liked up to a certain point, and then kind of getting closer to "go" time and staring at it, we sort of went, "Wait a minute. Wouldn't this bit be better over here? Wouldn't this… How about we do…" And suddenly I spent the week unshuffling a bunch of things and then reshuffling them to get to where we are now.

4 Avengers comics are coming out in Heroic Age.

Damn! Between the Heroic Age and Brightest Day and all the new titles that are launching with it, plus all the books I already get. I'm going to have to sell my house. :cwink::csad:

That's obvious since, when the Heroic Age announcement first came out there was only going to be ONE main Avengers book. Then there was two......and everybody heard the rumor about Avengers Academy...three. Now there's four.... Avengers books are multiplying like Deadpool variants.

So Avengers, Secret Avengers, probably Avengers Academy, and what else? Maybe Slott will continue with the international Avengers concept from Mighty with Pym...

There was that mention by someone in Marvel (forget who) about the Young Avengers finally coming back this year.

Oh boy, marvel just cant help themselves. I was really hoping they were going to stick with the whole "one core avengers book" thing. Ah well. I bet Slott's gonna write one of those books.

That just doesn't make financial sense, though. The Avengers clearly can support a very profitable franchise, so why would Marvel limit themselves to one book when they could toss in a few more that will most likely sell pretty well?

Personally, I'm glad. More Avengers books = more options if I find Bendis' main series intolerable, as I have on several occasions during the New Avengers era.

Heinberg supposedly has a mini-series called The Children's Crusade or something like that in mind for them. But I've given up on expecting further YA series. Unless they're central characters in Avengers Academy--which would make sense but probably isn't likely--I think they'll just go on making cameos.

It took Bendis six years before NA was just decent. I'm hoping the quality improves for the relaunch.

I hate it but I'm in the same boat. I'd love to see the Young Avengers return regularly, but I just can't expect it anymore. Them being in Avengers Academy would be cool though. Mix them in with some of the Initiative kids like Trauma, Komodo, and such, and I'd be all over that.

I think that's a little insulting to them to have them mixed in with them. Not knocking those characters, but the Young Avengers are at a higher level then them.

They certainly are, which is why I would expect them to be the examples that the others look to. Maybe even teachers. Sort of like the opposite of what the New Warriors represented to the Initiative.

Avengers isn't like Deadpool, the series can have multiple comics because each one is about different characters. It's just stupid when DP has 4 ongoings.

However from Cap or Tony's standpoint are they ready to be Avengers or need more training

I think they've proven by now that they're already good enough to be heroes in their own right. Hell, Stature and Vision Jr. are officially Avengers already.

Tony wasn't thrilled by Vision's "childish" personality as well as promising Scott he wouldn't let Cassie get hurt in the business, and Cap would be hesitant to bring kids to the forefront.

However, both of them would respect they've been serving WITH the Avengers led by Pym for a prolonged period, and definitely consider them full fledged Avengers.

I just saw that there's two more Avengers titles. DC and Marvel is trying to kill me wallet with all these new ongoings. :(

Both Steve and Tony didn't seem to have a problem recruiting them in Civil War and putting them on the front line.

And in the Winter Soldier one shot, Bucky commented on how well they fight.

Kate Bishop took out Iron Man in Fallen Son #3.

They did make a solid stand against Osborn.

Not to mention that Steve called them to help out with the Siege.

I think we're past the whole, "They're not ready" stage.

I think that Tony and Steve would endorse any of them.

I wonder what Kate's name is going to be now that Clint's taken back his name.

I'm sure he'll help her make a new one. Of course, the obvious thing would be for her to take up the Ronin identity, in which case she wouldn't need a bow--but I don't think anyone really wants that. ;)
