@JJJ's ulcer - I'm afriad you ahve flipped my geek switch and you're right - it is Greek ! I'm a Classics nut and a strategos was an elected general in Classical Athens. There were ten at any one time, one for each of the tribes Attika was divided into, and could become especially powerful as all other political positions in Athens were chosen by random lot. Perikles for instance was a strategos for many many years and he is argualby the most important character in Athenian political history!
