Hilariously awful DVD covers, or the Steven Seagal thread!

I'm have a lot of pent-up rage towards this one. Drive was my favorite movie of 2011, and one of my favorite movies ever. Yet I can't bring my self to buy the blu-ray because that f***ing blu-ray cover is an eyesore. What they hell were they thinking with that photoshopped piece of garbage? One my friends bought the movie On Demand, just so he could watch it whenever and didn't have to look at this awful Blu-Ray cover. I might just do the same thing.

Refn has given word of another release later this year, so hold out hope, but yes, that cover is terrible. Why put the scorpion on the front?

Or you could throw away the cover and just put it in a paper sleeve....or put it in a DVD box without the cover....or go to one of those sites that provide free alternative covers and down load it....or create your own cover......

So, for this one, I see someone sitting in front of a computer, thinking "let's take our impossibly good-looking leading man and make him look as awkward and uncomfortable as humanly possible."

Have you seen it? Cause in the movie he feels awkward and uncomfortable... while sleeping with teenage girls.

What I can't stand is how some dvds and now some Blu Rays replace the original artwork with artwork that sucks compaired to the original artwork. Like the first two Vacation movies original artwork are paintings by Boris Vallejo which got replace by photoshopped artwork.

orginal National Lampoon's Vacation and European Vacation artwork:

new NLV and NLEV art work:

I just don't get it.

This one always bothered me because it looks nothing like DeNiro. Can't be him.

Oh god. Guys please please keep this thread alive. It is quite possibly the funniest thread that ever did live and I just spent the past hour reading it in full laughing my damn head off.

Thanks for bumping the awesome. :woot:

This one is hilarious. It looks like Hartnett is getting blinded by the flare in the poster. Amazing.

Yeah. I also love the awful cut & paste job they did with Ford. His hair looks like a Brillo pad.

Logic is for wimps.

I wonder if stupid DVD/Blu covers like this were done so studios don't have to pay the marketing agency who did the posters.

The funny thing is that Drive's posters sold the film: Most of them (besides 2) features Ryan in a car.

I have not seen it. I only even know about it because for a while I was doing my best to see just about everything anyone from Buffy or Angel was in. I saw some real stinkers.

Vanishing Point.

cool original poster

Lame ass DVD cover. Can't even tell that the car is a Dodge Challenger.

It's funny because I feel the same way. I loved the movie and was very much looking forward for its blu-ray release, but that piece of crap won't be part of my collection. I even complained about it on Drive's Facebook page and surprised I got a few responses saying that they loved the cover :cmad:. I'll wait for the special edition release later this year.
