Yeah that's messed up.I just read the article. A little back story: My grandmother (my dad's mom) was a math teacher. Anyway, so I'm reading the article to my parents. My mom's shaking her head in disgust and my father responds, "8. 8 apples each. There's the answer to the problem." Clearly he missed the part where it were slaves who were picking the apples.
This story is so ridiculous I can't even believe it's real. The worst part is, school curriculum's change at the speed of rock, so this has probably been their curriculum for years.
