So, how close are you, or do you have a full run of it? :)

I'm only missing JMS Skin Deep arc, so I almost have his full run.

I did it a long time ago, got bored, gave my sister about 20 of the VG ones, and went hunting again. I need only ASM 1 and 14 to be done. (Got a sweet looking copy of ASM 3 in a used bookstore, of all places, a couple of months back)

I refuse to look for, or buy a better copy of AF 15

I have a full run of Amazing, Spectacular, MTU, Web of.. and all other Spidey titles.

I'm only missing an Amazing Fantasy #15. :(

:)

Damn, I'm still way behind you guys.lol

You had a full run then decided to do it again? How much did the #3 run you?How good is your AF #15?

I finished it when I was about sixteen, and about three years ago, when I entered Uni, I realized some of the issues were kinda worn (The ASM 1 had a big hole, where you could read the orignal "Spidey meets the Fantastic Four" title on the inside page. So handed them over to my kid sis, in case she wanted to sell them (She didn't, started a collection of her own, in fact) and set out to get some better copies

The woman running the shop didn't know anything about comic books, and how much the damn thing was actually worth and was trying to sell me the copy for 10 bucks. I gave her a hundred dollar bill and she thought I was nuts

My AF 15 is a peice of crap, but my parents gave it to me for my 12th birthday and its one of the last things I have from them. Sentimental value wise, I'd take it, in all its good minus glory, over the two thousand plus issues I got at the estate

Ah, I got ya. I thought you started over from scratch.

*Dusting off hands*

"Well that completes all 534 issues of Amazing Spider-Man. Phew, took me a while, and was a little bit difficult at the end there but I did it alright!"

...Five minutes later...

"I wonder if I could do it again with my eyes closed..."

I started collecting collecting Amazing Spider-Man off the rack in 1978 with issue #183, even though my first ever Spidey comic was ASM #148 back in 1975. In 1982, I had managed to get most of the missing 100's issues in a 50 cent bin in a local comic shop (the first one to ever open in my town), as well as a few issues below #100. By 1984, I traded Wolverine #1 (from the Miller mini series) for an ASM #100 and I had purchased issues #3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19 & 20 (most were in VG and a few in F) for about 200 bucks. Between 1984 & 1989, I had gotten a hold of every issue except 1 & 2 I picked up #1 in 1990 for $1500 (in VG) and I finally got a poor conditioned copy of ASM #2 in 2001 for $125 off ebay.

So, 65.9% of my ASM collection was purchased "off the rack" monthly for 28 years, and the rest were back issue pick ups.

:)

My #3 cost me 40 bucks and it's in between VG and Fine.

:)

Aloha,
My first Amazing Spider-Man issue was #18. I collected until about #90 and then gave it away. Years later, I got back into collecting. I need AF15,1-4 to have the complete Amazing. I've also gotten into the Whitman Variant covers .I currently have the complete 616 Universe Spider-Man including mini series and one shots as well as the complete Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-girl
Spidey rules some more than others:) :spidey:

Oy. I have a lot of Spidey comics but nowhere near full runs. Sorry don't have that much money I'm happy having 12 of the first 100 issues as it is. I do have a good 400-500 issues (counting a lot of titles) which make up a clear storyline of Pete's life and I have a lot of the major events. But I sure don't have the time or money to collect 'em nor would I really want to though.

Not even remotely. As it stands, I've got all the 500s, missin' one or two 400s, have maybe 80-90% of th' 300s, less of the 200s and a couple of the 100s. Doubt I'll ever have 1-99.

I do have a couple complete runs of th' other titles.

You lucky bastard:mad: :) I'm about 10 to 15 issues shy of a complete collection. I have everything from all the other Spidey runs though. When I go to the Baltimore ComicCon maybe I'll try to fill in some of those gaps.

I started buying in 1978 as well. I have a full run of Spectacular, Web, Spider-Man, Sensational, etc. I have almost every issue of ASM. Once I pick up #s 64 and 69, I'll have a full run from #39 up. I've got a dozen or so from #1-38. I buy only VG+ or higher with a preference for F so it's taking me a while to find the issue and come up with the cash to purchase it. On average I buy one missing issue a month though once I get around to #1 or AF #15, that will take a couple of months to come up with the cash. I also have a full run of Iron Man. I sold my Daredevil collection a few years ago.

I started collecting in 1978 as well. But they were just Swedish Spider-Man. My first original Amazing Spider-Man was the #204. I have the complete Spider-Man (Web, Spectacular, Sensational, MTU and all of the mini series and one-shots and graphic novels etc. ). I just miss some issues from the early Amazing. 1-4, 6-7, 10, 12, 14-17, 19, 22, 26, 30, 38 and the Amazing Fantasy #15 of course. I got about 20 Ditko and Romita's Amazing last month on a London convention.

Hey, that's pretty funny since My first ASM #3 was also $40 and in the same condition. Got it in the summer of 1990 at a New Brunswick (NJ not Canada) comic convention. It wasn't long after that, that I got the #10 and Annual #4 to complete the run, a little later in the year at a NY con,

That makes four of us that started in 1978:)...My first was ASM #180. That does not include the #3 I remember my Uncle having that was eventually thrown out with many pre-hero marvels from the early 60's, nor does that include any single issues that were picked up from "here & there", read and thrown out,

I'm pretty far off on a full run of Amazing Spider-Man. I believe I have issue # 289 to # 436, then there is a four to five year gap. And then I have the beginning of JMS' run, I believe that it was ASM # 30 Vol. 2, all the way to the current # 534.

But I have a full run of Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker Spider-Man, the one that started with Todd McFarlene.

I have quite a lot of Spidey comics.

Okay, to get more specific I have:

0-99: Just reprints and Wizard editions.
100-199: 2 issues, a milestone and reprints.
200-299: 20 issues and reprints
300-399: 60 issues including variants and reprints (thought I had more...)
400-499: 42 including variants plus 59 issues of volume 2 including variants (woulda had the whole run but I got ripped off of issue 25, both covers)
500-present: 36 including variants

pretty much from middle of clone saga onwards with a few oldies and a huge gap in JMS run which i've been filling with trades. just sold a load and never plan on spending that much on old comics. i have lots and lots and lots of reprints of the classic stuff and a few key issues (marriage stuff,1st carnage etc)

some of your collections are very impressive. VERY... / sad. geeks :p

Yeah, but if I didn't buy the comics, I'd spend money on booze, drugs and women instead and where's the fun in that? ;)
