Comics Your Spider-Man Comic Collection?

I don't collect so much, as I buy. And I don't buy to turn a profit or for any obsessive-compulsive completist reasons either. I buy a comic because the story interests me. Having said that, I've been buying since 1990, so I probably have thousands of comics, none of which are in order, some of which are scrunched at the bottom of their piles missing covers and 90% of which have been sitting in my basement for years. I should go through them one day, take a trip down memory lane. My uncle used to give me his old comics when I was growing up. When I have a nephew or son, I'll just give him my old comics. Yes, even the valuable ones (*gasp*... Blasphemy!).

Heh heh... it's not quite so blasphemous... I used to tell TSoB that when I passed on, he could have my comics... UNTIL one day he said "That's great!!! I could sell them because they're worth LOTS of money and I could buy cool new comics & toys..."

My daughter recently told me that when i die she is going to put all my comics, statues, and figures into a great big pile and set it on fire.



She apparently has inherited her dad's sense of humor. :woot:
 
I had been collecting Spidey since 1999. Particularly Amazing, PP:SM off and on, the occasional Spectacular and the entire run on Marvel Knights.

I sold all of it after the third issue of BND.

Great stuff. I love reading fans talk about their collections.

I started collecting in 1982 but quit in 1992 due to VENOM who totally ruined Spider-man comics (and even the films..terrible chararacter). The stories in the 90s were TERRIBLE. A few years ago, I started back up and got the ones I was missing. I actually enjoy the recent issues even though the idea that Peter would make a deal with a demon is silly. That being said, I think we should give Marvel a chance to explain this. They may surprise us.

My collection:
Amazing Spider-man (100-400; along with 52 issues between 1-99)
Spectacular Spider-man (1-200)
Web of Spider-man (1-100)
Spider-man (1-40)

My earliest comic: Amazing Spider-man #19.
My favorite comic to look at: Amazing Spider-man #50 (beautiful)
My favorite series: Hobgoblin Saga (until #275)

I also remember enjoying watching Spider-man battle Firelord (#279 I think), Juggernault (#23something) and the Boy Who Collected Spider-man. The Kraven-death story stunned fans back in the day. I also thought the costume switching from classic to black was fun because, back then, there was no "previews" on the net so everytime I went to the store, I wondered which suit he would wear.

I've been reading and collecting comics since the early 80's and I now have a collection of approximately 4,500 comics. Spider-man has always been one of my favourites and i've always bought ASM. I didn't start buying some of the other spider-man titles regularly until the mid-late 90's but have picked up the back issues I'm missing.

Currently out of my collection I have the following spider-man comics:

Amazing (117-present)
Web (1-100)
Spectacular (1-200)
Spider-man (1-26)

Plus a number of one-shots, annuals etc

I want to buy ASM 1-116 too, but they are pretty pricey, so may be a slow process.

I also have every issue of Daredevil from present back to issue 43 and want to complet that run too
