I don't see it happening. It goes against the realistic aspect of Nolan's Batman universe.

'The Dark Knight' goes against the realistic aspect of Nolan's Batman universe. To exclude staples of the batman mythos due to the tiresome B.S. talking point of "nolans realism" is just stupid.

I'd say Robin was a pretty big part of the mythos and he was excluded. Same goes for a few more elements that have been omitted, but don't immediately spring to mind. Though I'm all for the Lazarus Pits in this film.

A machine that can manipulate the brain into thinking a dream is reality.

A gas that can induce fear, and paranoia which leads to hallucinations.

Now..........Can these work with Chris's realistic explanation?

A drug that can enhance and enlarge a person?

A pit that can bring people back from the dead?

Don't see that being the lazarus pit at all... this has to be something entirely else..

Microwave emitters that defy the laws of physics.

Having your skull burnt so there is bone showing, yet the eyeball is fine, as is the victim.

A psychtropic that induces a concept as abstract and personal as fear.

Joker being nigh omnipotent and his foot not being severed off when he was grapneled.

The grapnel.

The suit.

The tumbler.

The concept and premise of the character and story.

WHERE WAS TEH REEHULIZMZ THEN?!

I don't look Nolan's Batman's films as having a realistic aspect or real world feel to them. There is absolutely no campiness in them. What keeps them grounded is, that to the characters in the films, they react as if it is strange for a guy to be running around in a Bat suit, which is not a normal occurrence. Not to say something fantastic couldn't happen. Also, the conflicts both internal and external resonate well with audiences.

My mother saw Batman Begins the other day for the first time and told me she enjoyed watching his personal growth as a human being. she said she never knew why he became Batman (she never watched the Burton movies) She liked how he wouldn't stoop to Ra's level even though his parents were killed by a criminal. I WAS SHOCKED!!! :wow:

Realism blah blah blah. Just tell me a great story!!! I'm capable of accepting some "fantastic" concepts in my Batman movies! Bring on anything, let it rip!

What if the title The Dark Knight Rises has nothing to do with Batman but everthing to do with Ra's?

They're unrealistically plausible in a realistic sense of explanation. :cwink:

Hey guys, did you know Nolan makes realistic Batman movies?

I just figured this out all by myself. I just thought I'd tell you, because nobody else has ever said it before.

I think Nolan's been trolling us. He's been setting us up, saying he wants a realistic world, then BAM. Waits for the end of the trilogy to give us the most unrealistic Batman movie ever in the history of mankind!

:D

the films are full of completely unrealistic elements. sometimes its done well (scarecrow fear gas), sometimes it was ridiculously bad (turning every cell phone in gotham into a sonar device). if its done well, the lazarus pits would be entirely welcome.

how they could indeed work within Nolan's 'realistic' bat trilogy

Nolan stated his Batman movies would be grounded in reality, there's a huge difference. If Nolans Bat-movie were created with a realistic fashion in mind, Batman would not be wearing a cape and cowl.

That being said, it seems like the only one who's so F***ING EXCITED that Nolan's going this route; I have been DYING to see a movie go this route, and if it's true, then here we are. :woot:
I really don't mind Ra's, Talia or even the LoS in DKR.

Nolan Batman isn't that realistic.

Exactly.

While there have been several unrealistic moments in both films, there has never been anything that is outright 'supernatural'. The Lazarus Pits bringing people back from the dead or healing all wounds in one dip is pushing realism way too far.

Oh really? So you can't accept sonar telephones, but a pit that makes you immortal is ok? :o

yes. the universe set up in nolan's films allows for fantastic elements to exist (such as batman, fear gas, lazarus pits), but hard science is the same as the real world. an everyday cell phone being used for sonar is impossible.

You're hilarious. Fear gas is a science. It's a chemical that causes hallucinations based on fear. That's Chemistry.

A chemical pit that makes you immortal is so far removed from that concept, or the concept of Batman, in terms of fantasy. It's on a whole other level of fantasy. We're talking Clayface and Man Bat type fantasy.

What about the microwave emitter that vaporises water in BB? I haven't seen any real life military use that weapon.

fear gas is not real. theoretically plausible? probably.

and the lazarus pit does not make you immortal. it's chemicals rejuvenate a dying person prolonging their life. its not hard to BS plausible chemistry for that too, if one wanted.

both fear gas and lazarus pits are generally not possible. but it's easy enough to B.S. the theory for them.

but there is not even theoretically plausible science that would allow for the sonar device that batman used at the end of TDK.

Me neither.

I can't debate with this silly logic. There is no scientifically plausible scenario for chemicals that let someone live to be a whopping 600 years old. You will see sonar telephones long before you ever see something like that.

Fear gas is a hallucinogen, it causes you to experience fear and paranoia. There are several real life drugs that do similar things.

A microwave emitter that vaporises water is also theoretically possible. They messed up by not having the microwave have a negative effect on humans, but that's movie science for you.

Phones emit signals, and they do have the capacity to track your location, TDK stretched those facts by making them emit sonar.

There is no real life equivalent of the Lazarus pit. The pit is pure magic, and has always been presented as magic. It's a different thing entirely.
