I keep my blu-ray collection seperate. It is the master race. (lol) so dvd's are downstairs ordered by genre. Blu-ray are upstairs near the TV in alphabetical.

Alphabetically. If it is a series/trilogy then by the main name then chronologically.

Tv shows are on the top row and then movies on the rest.
I got exactly the same system :yay:

just curious :woot:

Cool topic, man.

I mainly sort my dvds by genre. War films, Sci Fi, Horror, Police dramas, Comedy, Westerns, Fantasy, etc. Thats not the actual order the genres are in but...

Then those genres can be sorted by sub genres like Zombie, slasher, vampire, ghost, etc. for horror films. After that I tend to sort by either year, director, or actor in each sub genre. Like all my Scorsese gangster movies are together sorted by year .

The more dvd's you amass the more interesting it gets. Easier in some ways to sort them harder in others. John Wayne is pretty easy since the vast majority of his movies were westerns or war movies. Then you get to stuff like The Quiet Man and it gets tricky.

Film studio usually. It's also seemed really awkward when film studios logos are out of whack. Though, even over that I put them by size, too. If a case is special designed case that makes it stand out I like to keep those in their own separate little space.

*Old movies
*Favorite movies of the 90's and 00's
*Favorite movies of the 70's and 80's
*Boxes and series
*Movies by favorite directors
*the rest

I do alphabetically... but if its a series, it will be in the order of theatrical release date.

So it's Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever etc... Then when you have to slot in Gotham Knight, Under the Red hood it becomes frustrating... right now the animated Batman stuff is just before the Live action movie group. The Dark Knight is most right

All 007 films go under "James Bond"...

I'm always arranging and re-arranging my DVDs. Right now...

Scooby Doo DVDs
Marvel Movies/TV Shows
Blu-Rays
Video Games
DC Movies/TV Shows
TV Shows
Film series like Harry Potter, Bond, and Planet of the Apes, etc. I keep together.
The rest are disorganized.

I sort my collection of DVD's and Blu-Rays by Genre. Horror at the very top where the kiddos can't reach them, and special interest/documentaries at the bottom. They are then sorted alphabetically so I can find them easily.

Very top: Oversized/Novelty DVD Cases
Level 1: (From Top) : Horror Movies
Level 2: Comic Book Movies
Level 3: Science Fiction
Level 4: Action
Level 5: Fantasy
Level 6: Comedy
Level 7: Drama
Level 8. (Bottom) Special Interest, Documentaries, Family Weddings, Misc. Junk

By format and then alphabetically. With TV shows in a separate area.

Uhm alphabetically. Can't believe that's not a choice.
Same here, I'm shocked it wasn't the first option let alone even listed.

It's a little annoying when I get a new DVD that starts with the beginning of the alphabet and have to move everything down the shelve to fit 1 DVD
