The Dark Knight The Dark Knight Blu-ray or DVD (Poll)

Will you be getting The Dark Knight on Blu-ray or DVD?

  • Blu-ray

  • DVD

  • Neither! I've seen it too many times in the theatres! :P

Wasn't sure where else to post this.

But is anyone else sad about not having any deleted scenes?

I mean...in the Wizard World footage, they show a The Tumbler do a burn out fishtale in the temp-cave.

And they show Batman jumping across cop cars...

:(

It may not give me the rush as seeing it on an IMAX screen, but seeing The Dark Knight in Blu-Ray on a 60" Pioneer Kuro is more than enough to satisfy me.

Cryptic, I respect your decision but if you do get a chance to view a blu-ray movie on an HD-TV with the proper connections, I promise you that you'll never go back to regular DVDs ever again.
I said the same thing when blu-rays came out even though I had a PS3 but my friend borrowed me his Casino Royale blu-ray & I got a chance to compare it with the DVD version. The difference was night & day. The blu-ray version had vibrant colours, crisp & clean. The audio made me feel like I was in the movie next to Bond himself. I just felt like I was in the movie truly experiencing what Bond was. I never got that from the DVD. Hope this is helpful. I'm not forcing you to get it by all means but you should give it a chance to at least see what you are missing out on. :cwink:
Anyone can walk into a Circuit City (or almost any other place that sells electronics, for that matter) and see what a Blu-Ray movie looks like on a hi-def television. Most people have seen what it looks and sounds like at one point or another, even the folks that are sticking to DVD. But the fact of the matter is, despite all the proselytizing, a lot of people just don't feel that it's worth it to throw hundreds of dollars away on a new TV and DVD player. Maybe there will be some good deals on them on Black Friday, but the prices at the moment are pretty ridiculous, IMO.

Recently got the Batman Begins Gift Set for Blu-Ray (which btw isn't all that great, the Blu-Ray itself is fine) and I'll def. be getting The Dark Knight on blu-ray

I'm going to pick up TDK on DVD as I don't have a BR setup as yet.

DVD - i dont have a blu ray player and i dont plan on getting one yet.

Well, both the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray will have the trailers and TV spots available for perusual -- depending on how Warners does it we may get all of them or just some.

So we'll get those alternate bits in archival form -- the alternate "You're gonna love me!" and "Kill the Batman" as well as those two scenes you mentioned.

That's cool.I wonder how much other stuff was snipped out lol.

They are both 2 disc?

So what is so special about this special edition? Just that Bat Pod model? Because personally I would have bought it if it came with a REGULAR DVD case, call me picky, but that stupid black plastic circle thing witht the Batman Logo on it...pfft, what is that? It wont fit with my DVD collection...what were they thinking?

I was looking at the 2 disc special edition DVD and it tells how they have the 6 IMAX scenes in their intended format. How can you view IMAX on a regular DVD?

Probably with black bars on both sides of the screen, or it will be cropped just like the Prologue on Batman Begins Blu-ray.

I'll be getting both, but I voted Blu Ray for the poll.

im an advocate of the bluray experience, but it works for some movies and not others. For example: Die Hard 4, Batman Begins, Casino Royale, I am Legend, Mission Impossible, Pirates look phenomenal on bluray while Indiana Jones, Iron Man, Transformers look ridiculously too surreal for my taste (even though it has great visuals). Something about those films takes away the fact that Im watching an actual movie and I think Im watching a play or something.

More great stuff for you guys! I'm sure you've noticed on Superherohype mainpage about the Preorders for the Dark Knight movie. Well here's the link just in case you didn't see it yet.

1st is the DVD version but it is the 2 Disc Special Editon with Digital Copy: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001GZ6QDS/comingsoon

2nd is the Blu-ray version but it is just the blu-ray with Digital Copy: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001GZ6QEC/comingsoon

3rd is the Blu-ray version but it is the Limited Edition with Batpod. For some reason it does not have any description for the product that they are selling which is odd since Amazon is pretty good with giving the details of the product they are selling.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001J53X9U/comingsoon

4th is the DVD version which is basically the widescreen edition & nothing more. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001GZ6QC4/comingsoon

5th & final selection is also the DVD version but it is the Fullscreen edition & nothing more. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001GZ6QBU/comingsoon

I'm still not sure if I want the Blu-ray Limited Edition with the Batpod. I wish there were more details for it so I can make my decision. I might just get the regular Blu-ray version with the Digital copy & give the Digital copy to my brother or trade it with someone for a PS3 game.

I'm happy I invested in a fairly good PC last year. It means that all I have to do for Blu-Ray is buy the disc-drive and I'm set. :woot:

How genius is it that they're releasing this movie on December 9th, which is in Christmas season? They're definitely going to sell out stores. I'm going to buy it for my sister, and she's going to buy it for me...lol.

DVD for me. :) For me, the question is full screen or widescreen? I'm leaning on widescreen...

It's standard procedure, dahlin. They want to milk that cow full well.

Is this even debatable? W-I-D-E-screen, my child.

I am getting both, they are both preordered but I voted Blu-Ray on the poll.

And darknight7 I am kinda disappointed by the sounds of the extras but when we see them they'll probably be pretty good. (hopefully)
