I hate it when some fans think it's their place to talk trash about production issues they have no education in. Sit down, watch the movie, and shut up.

uhh... Halle Berry's CINO cost $165 million to make. So the money spent on TDK was well spent.

No, that's just an example of another director who doesn't know how to budget a film alot worse than Nolan.

How did this movie cost $180mil you ask?
You try to pay for the logistics, permission and execution of flipping a semi-truck/trailer ass end up on a major metropoltan street and see how much that alone cost you.

$180 Mill... now thats some high gas prices right there
lol

Go watch the movie again
the scene before he says he killed 5 people
when the cop says 6
he says 6 in a shocking way of like woah
Umm...No. Joker does not say six or ten. It is just sort of a "yikes!" expression. You guys are.....I don't even want to say it. PLease stop this nonsence.

compared to what we got in CINO TDK was a bargain. On location shots, great acting and solid directing and IMAX shots. None of this stuff comes cheap. Heck, a good costume and wardrobe budget will net $5-6 million on a movie like this.
Contrast this to CINO $29 million of the budget went to Halle Berry and Sharon Stone's salaries before a single shot of film was shot. There was NO on location shooting and the CGI in that movie looked like PS1. TDk was a deal production wise.

Everyone needs to understand Studio films have only had budgets expand over the past decade; a good comedy with B-list stars costs $60 million nowadays. And a period drama like American gangster cost $100 million. $180 million is a fair price to pay for a movie like TDK.

buddah tap dancing khrishnah, let that damn thing die people

This thread fails on SOOO many levels. Yeah, not THAT much CGI was used, but I could see how 180 Million was the cost.

Yeah, two and a half hours, big, explosive action-sequences, great set-piece(they had to bring back the Tumbler as well as make the new Bat-Pod), IMAX camera, high-profile actors(some of have the same amount of screentime as the main character Bruce Wayne, ex. Aaron Eckhart, Heath Ledger, etc.), and, as somebody mentioned before('jsf', I believe), high gas-prices, afterall, you know how much The Joker likes gasoline.

Well sure if you want to compare it to a movie like that but what about the countless films which cost less but still managed to look amazing? The point of having a big budget should be that you can pull out all the visual stops. So when someone questions how TDK cost 180 million compared to so many other films which cost alot less but still manage to win awards for visual fx and action sequences you can understand it.
