Did this movie really cost 100 million bucks? What did they spend the money on, not the actors or the effects, it seems.

i think the budget is not 100 millions. because it didnt look like a 100 budget movie.

i hope so. as much as i'd hate to think that someone would be stupid enough to spend $100 million on a movie that looks like DB:E, this film stands a better chance at not getting a sequel if it cost $100 mil to make. if it only cost $50 mil to make then it would only need to earn $150 mil to get a sequel.

Yeah, bigger budget means they'll have to get more box office intake.

*crosses fingers*

I hope its like 40 million, then we get a sequel for sure! Hopefully with the same creative team and cast!

Can't wait!

could be 100 millions with stephen chow's paycheck and from the creator of DB. tehy had to pay them a lot of money to not bash this movie.

According to this newspaper from Chile, the budget of the film is 45 millions.

i'm not surprised that it only cost $45 mil to make. just makes it more obvious that Fox put the minimum amount of effort in this movie.

Yeah this newspaper from Chile has made everything far more clearer.

This is not good. Fox will most likely make a profit because of this measly budget.

even with that small budget.. im still thinking it'll bomb.

probably as hard as streetfighter did in america

It doesn't really look that good for a 100 million dollar film, so I totally understand if it is only 45 million. But then that means it can make it's budget back alot easier.

exactly, but it still needs to make at least $100 mil to even think about a sequel. it would need to make at least $150 mil to GUARANTEE a sequel.

So if the budget it 100 million then it needs around 150-200 million to get a sequel?

most movies need to make at least triple it's budget in order to secure a sequel. some movies can get away with only double it's budget but it needs to have a positive following in order for that to happen. so if DB:E had cost $100 mil to make then it would need to make at least $300 mil to GUARANTEE a sequel, $200 mil to POSSIBLY earn a sequel...but since it really cost $45 mil to make then it only needs to earn around $135 mil to guarantee a sequel. if it reaches $100 mil then there's a possibility that a sequel could be made, but considering that this movie has received unanimously negative feedback i doubt they would go forward with a sequel if it didn't break $100 mil...at least with the same director, cast, and crew.

if the budget is 45 then it has a chance making a profit.

Hellboys buget was $66 million and it made $99 million.

There was still a sequel.

this budget explains everything.

its cheap. and it looks cheap and it was cheap.

every DB should be insulted that a studio spend 45 millions.

Yeah but by a different studio, and the only reason Hellboy got Hellboy 2 was becuase it sold really well on dvd.

This movie can't be 45 million. Street Fighter was $60 million wasn't it? This movie has alot more effects. Can't be below SF budget. No way.

And Max Paynes budget was $35 million so it could be true.

I'm not sure whether to believe this or not. On one hand the film didn't look like it cost 100 million, but deathshead2 is right that this doesn't look like it had a budget lower then Street Fighter.
