Arrow How many Arrow seasons will we get?

Hopefully 5 at least. But ill keep watching as long as it's even decent. Hopefully it's great for 20 seasons. ....but ill settle for anything above crap really.

I think Amell said recently that the plan is 6 seasons.

I hope nothing more than six. Wouldn't make sense otherwise and would be overkill.

Who are the villains going to be if they go to even six?

Any updates on this? Will season 5 be the last? I'm hoping at least 6.

Green Arrow doesn't really have any major villains of his own other than Merlyn and Count Vertigo, IIRC. They've already looted the Teen Titans (for Deathstroke and Damien Darkh) and Batman (for Ra's al-Ghul). They'll probably grab someone else's bad guys. I'd think that the only ones that would really be off-limits are the big ones like Luthor, the Joker, Darkseid, etc.

In one of the future seasons I would imagine that Oliver will go up against the Dark Archer again, either in the form of Malcolm or a resurrected Tommy. Merlyn is Green arrows main adversary after all. They could also take lesser know villains and build them up and make them more formidable.

His fifth year of flashbacks will end next season, so season 6 and on will either need a new format, or they shoehorn some other bs flashback sequences to take up a third of the episodes plot.

I'd love to get 10 great seasons out of this...

Unfortunately, unless it takes a dramatic upswing in quality, that's not going to happen... we'll probably have six or seven. It won't make it as long as Supernatural.
Season three had better ratings than season two, and the season four premiere did better than the season two or season three premieres.

It was mostly the crossovers with The Flash that contributed to the rise last season, but the simple fact is what we perceive to be "quality" has very little impact on the ratings. I could rant all day about shows like iZombie or Constantine deserving better ratings than Gotham or SHIELD, but at the end of the day my opinion of their quality doesn't matter.

The Flash is the top rated show on the CW by far, and Arrow is comfortably ahead of Supernatural and iZombie for second place. Legends of Tomorrow will probably land in between Flash and Arrow.

As long as the ratings hold up and the main cast wants to come back, CW isn't letting this show go. Crossovers with Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will likely hold this show above the average CW show for many years to come.

The Vampire Diaries is doing less than half the ratings it did at its peak and they lost their lead last season, and it still has a chance at getting renewed on CW because shows like Jane the Virgin, The Originals, The 100, Reign, and Crazy ex-Girlfriend are doing way worse.

CW also has a per-episode deal with Netflix for their shows, so any show with a decent following is going to have as many episodes as possible squeezed out of it.

EDIT:

I didn't realize how old your post was when I quoted it.

I'd like to see some real progression in the flashbacks, because I don't think Oliver is even half the cold blooded, borderline sociopath he was in season one. He often still comes across as the same vulnerable, whiny, inexperienced kid he was when he washed up on the island. His skills have improved, and there have been some changes in his demeanor, but I don't think we've seen any real, consistent progression of his character. That might change this season, but it might feel forced.

I think at least 8 seasons. I can't wait to get rid of flashbacks after S5 is done.

They have felt more like an obligation than anything for the last season. Hopefully this season improves that.

They shouldn't have to be in every episode. 4x01 would've been better utilizing all that time to main story.

The flashbacks are strong when

A) There's an actual plot
B) They tie into what's going on in the present
C) Why not both?

Season 6 will have flashbacks to season 1.

What I think would be cool for a season-long big bad would be to bring back Peter Stormare as a regular. Reveal through some manner of flashback or exposition that Werner Zytle was royalty in Vlatava before being overthrown and scraping by after fleeing to America as a drug peddler. After he gets arrested once more, he's taken in by whoever gave Deathbolt his powers and is given his actual comic-accurate powers. After he hones his skills against Team Arrow, he ventures back to Vlatava and gets revenge on those who overthrew his family.

Now with an army at his disposal and a grudge against the Star City heroes for putting him away, he goes after them.

You all shut your filthy mouths and leave "Supernatural" out of this :(

I see the show going beyond 5 seasons, but it makes sense if they stop there and maybe even move him to another show, like Legends of Tomorrow. I really can't imagine the show without the flashbacks, though.

I think 6 seasons is perfect. Season 5 will "complete" Oliver's story of his time away and come full circle with season 1. Then I think they should do an "encore/epilogue" season which would be 6 with no flashbacks. Season 6 should be an all out superhero epic where Oliver forms his own Justice League and they go up against a huge threat. I think that would be the best, coolest way to end the show. I imagine by that time The Flash's show will still be running strong so it's not like we would never see Team Arrow again.

The initial plan was Five. I don't mind them extending that as long as they have a solid plan as to what they want to achieve.

you can always to flash-forwards for the show. and there will be two other shows the piggyback on for stories and guest stars.

It's my favorite show, so hopefully we will see plenty more seasons. Around season 8 or more.

I'm expecting Arrow to go to Season 7. I believe after they get through five years of flashbacks on the Island, they will modify the format of the show. I see the writers of Arrow using the show as a platform to bring additional DC properties to the screen, as they have done with the Flash.

In the ideal world, DC will start modifying and clearly laying out the expectations it has for its TV and film properties but that doesn't seem very cut-and-dry yet.

Beyond the internal corporate divisions, that would depend a *lot* on how the movies work out. I don't see a solid plan for the TV shows happening until such time as they have a solid plan for their movies.

In practice, I think the best the CWverse can hope for anytime soon, if ever, is benign neglect.

the show will last as long as Amell wants to do it. Or if the cw folds.
