Arrow How many Arrow seasons will we get?

My guess is, the show will run for at least a few more seasons. If Legends of Tomorrow and any other spinoffs succeed, they'll probably phase Arrow out, with the relevant cast appearing as guest stars and team members where appropriate.

They're not going to phase Arrow out unless its ratings drop significantly. It's performing far better than the #3 show on the network, which is an aging Supernatural. Legends of Tomorrow will likely be successful too.

Here are the average ratings for CW shows this season
1. Flash: 1.40 (-3% from last season)
2. Arrow: 1.04 (+2.71% from last season)
3. Supernatural: 0.74 (-8.54% from last season)
4. iZombie: 0.56 (-14.56% from last season)
5. The Vampire Diaries: 0.56 (-22.62% from last season)
6. The Originals: 0.42 (-28.95% from last season)
7. Jane the Virgin 0.40 (-17.16% from last season)
8. Reign: 0.30 (-23.7% from last season)

So not only is Arrow doing way better than almost all of their shows, but it's also literally the only show on the network than has grown from last season.

And it's about to hit four full seasons, which is traditionally when a show starts to attract syndication deals. Arrow also does well on streaming services, DVD/Blu Ray, and digital download services. Each additional season means more money from those sources.

CW will do everything it can to keep Arrow on. They're renewing shows doing literally less than 1/3 of its ratings right now and those shows don't have nearly the same potential for alternative revenue streams.

I totally get the economic argument, fam (Can I call you that?). But as a fan, I'd rather prefer the Breaking Bad way of going out rather than say, Scrubs which sucked balls in the last couple of seasons.

But, ratings is probably king. Or Queen.:sly:

Oh, note, when I say "phase it out" I mean "after several more seasons". And that's dependent on their spinoff efforts continuing to pay off. If not, they'll run Arrow into the ground, sure.

If the spinoffs *do* pay off, what I am envisioning is something along the lines of a renamed Legends of Tomorrow, which is basically Justice League TV, where the Green Arrow is one of the main cast. It would let you keep Amell, but in a less demanding and more flexible role, while also ( potentially ) gaining a Flash-style ratings bump. Win win, as long as the Arrow plotlines are brought to a suitable conclusion.

Arrow will go for at least another 3-4 seasons past Season 5 if Netflix and CW renew their deal. Netflix is going to want at least a few seasons under any new deal.

I think 7 minimum, 8 max. And that is if they don't have Oliver pass on the title and try to keep it going like they are TVD.

Scrubs was always terrible.

My thoughts are that Arrow will be replaced by another character they'll introduce in season 5, and it will be a transition season, or they'll use season 6, but I won't be surprised if its no longer about Green Arrow, and a whole new brand, it would be pretty sick if they could do a teen titan/young justice season.

It would fit the CW motive of having insanely good looking people, but at least have a lot to work with, and some of the cameos etc you could have would just be phenomenal.

I'm not sure what benefit there would be to rebranding Arrow itself when they've already shown they can make spinoff shows. What I could see happening is Thea replacing Oliver. It is called Arrow, after all, not Green Arrow. At any rate, I'd rather they do that than have some new guy as Green Arrow.

The day they replace Oliver is the day is stop watching.

I imagine thought CW is like Logan's Run, they kill leading actors when they turn 40 or lose their abs :o

I think is already happening

7 season but I expect some of the original cast to leave. Probably Willa to go do other project and return in later season 7 for series finale. I don't think Barrowman will return then he should be dead at end of 5 to end the island cycle.

Stephen confirmed today that he is contracted through 2019.

that would mean 7 season is likely guarantee. However, it could still end at 6 season with Amell being a guest star on other shows to fullfill his last year.

Unless Stephen's film career really takes off I'm confident we'll see 10+ seasons ala Smallville and Supernatural.

Read somewhere on social media amell stating season 6 could be the last. Honestly, I think they should shorten the seasons and take out the villian of the week episodes. Would leave for better story telling. With all the gaps and time breaks I forget what happen earlier in the season. Hopefully we get at least 2 more seasons minimum.

Where did he say that?

Because there's really no reason at all CW would cancel Arrow. They only have three shows capable of drawing anything above a 0.7 rating for a full season.

I think 5 or 6 seasons for Arrow are good I honestly don't want them stretching it out like Smallville

That's just not realistic. Amell's contracted through 2019, so 7 seasons is the minimum. And CW has proven they'll renew long running, quickly fading shows even when they lose their lead character (see Vampire Diaries). The last episode of TVD literally did less than 1/3 of what it used to do in its prime and it's getting renewed.

And its ratings are increasing from season to season in a landscape where almost every show across all of television is down significantly.

Warner Brothers is going to want as many seasons as they can possibly wring out of it for purposes of syndication, streaming, DVD/Blu Ray sales, digital sales, etc.

The only thing that's going to stop this train is if Amell's film career takes off after his next contract expires. It's just as likely that he signs a series of 1-2 year deals at points after that like the stars of Supernatural do.

No matter what it means creatively, it's about money for Warner Bros. You don't seem to grasp the magnitude of Arrow's success for the CW. Literally the only past comparisons are Smallville, Supernatural, and Vampire Diaries (Flash has since blown them all out of the water, but Arrow is still huge).

Five seasons since it was the original plan and I hope it sticks. Then I hope it spins into the Birds of Prey with Black Canary, Katana, and Huntress.

How about substituting Speedy instead, so you get an archer girl whose not a complete psychopath. That could work.

Maybe they'll change the show's direction after next season. Obviously they won't kill him off if he's aged in LoT. Perhaps he's in a guest role or something, who knows. I still think they should shorten the season and not have their month breaks in the middle or however long it is. The filler episodes ruin the season. I think every season would be solid if each episode played into each other.
