I've grown more and more apathetic to this upcoming election. I realize it's my duty as an American citizen to vote, but really, I can't justify my vote for anyone at this point. All the candidates IMO suck ass, and I'm really contemplating not even bothering to vote this year. So how many of you plan on actually voting this year? I don't need to know who or what for, I'm just curious as to who is going out there to do their civic duty.

I haven't decided yet. I'm still waiting for the damn Democratic primaries to be over.

I plan on voting, and as much as I hate thinking about voting for McCain, I might. But, I might vote for Barr, just because his a Libertarian.

I am absolutely voting. Obama all the way. First candidate i've actually given a **** about in DECADES. Of course, seeing as the democratic party is divided all to hell, I doubt anything will happen which I am going to pleased with this November. So this will likely be the LAST time I bother to vote, cuase if/when Obama loses due to the democratic parties never ending ineptitude, i'll just see no point in it anymore.

I'm taking the day off and working as an election inspector...I've done it 3 times before, and it's fun (especially on BIG elections).

I'm actually debating, and I can't believe I am saying that as it will be the first time since I became of age that I did not.

I immensely dislike both Obama and McCain. None of the third party candidates have piqued my interest and Michael Bloomberg isn't running. I also dislike both Jason Altimire (hypocrite) and Melissa Hart, so I don't know who to vote for in my districts's Congressional election. I may just stay home. I may just write in my own name. Who knows?

Yeah, the local elections are really the only thing that are going to make me go to the polls in November.

If I were American I'd vote for Obama.

The republicans can't have another term. The republicans have destroeyd the USA's international reputation. They are too eager to get into unjustifiable wars which put a strain on the economy. The Bush administration has ****ed the economy up. These, and many other reasons, the republicans should not have another term.

Obama unlike previous democratic canditates, actually takes a definitive stance on a lot of issues. Instead of letting relations with "enemy" nations such as Iran simply worsen, he's willing to talk with these countries. Diplomacy instead of idle threats. He wants to change the healthcare system for the better. He wants to close Guantanamo bay and put an end to USA's abuse of human rights.

I think Obama is under a lot of unfair scrutiny. He's been criticized to high heaven for his relationship with Rev Wright. Let's face it, that situation would be impossible for any politician to handle perfectly. Obama decided to leave the church. People still criticize him. If Obama had said "I was aware of what Wright was saying all those years but attended his church anyway", that would basically have been the end of his campaign right there. So he's going to **** his own campaign over the stupid comments of one man? So Obama tried to distance himself, and got accused of "lying" about his relationship with Wright. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I mean, EVERY politician has dirt on them. Consider this - what Rev Wright did is the very WORST thing anybody has been able to do to damage Obama, and it wasn't even using anything Obama himself said or done.

People ought to concentrate on which canditate would be better for the country. From where I sit that canditate is obviously Obama. I think your country would greatly regret it if either Clinton or McCain got the presidency.

I'm definitetly voting, but at this point I don't know who. If Obama gets the nomination, it'll be him. If it's Hillary...I'll probably write in Lex Luthor, cause at least we know for a fact exactly HOW evil he would be as president. And really, besides killing Superman, the guy seems like he has a good platform :o

I will go to the polls, and I will vote for McCain. A moderate isn't a conservative, but it's better than a liberal.

Voting for the lesser of two evils for the third presidential election in a row . . . :csad:

We didnt go through all this **** for people to not vote...

what type of candidate do you wish existed?

The Republicans haven't done too well over the last few years. What do you think the Republicans can do for you with a third term?

election day should be a national holiday... WHY NOT?

many Conservatives believe Liberals would do far worse. that if they had voted in gore or Kerry, we would be worse off.

Kerry wasn't a very good candidate. He tried going into the middle too much on almost every subject.

i think its funny though how certain people on both sides vote blue or red...

its so much more respectable if you have a core set of beleifs and voted for based on them. alot of people do not do this. many of my college friends are F5^%ing morons who are trendily liberal and have no idea, this however pales in comparison to old people who vote like Zombies for conservatives... and can talk even less intelligently on the subject.

one of my friends whom i greatly respect switched his allegiance from conservatives based on the war plan. she said she hates everything about Obama but feels staying in Iraq is worse for the economy, foriegn policy and for the country in general than having a liberal president.

i have another friend who switched to McCain because they can't stand the idea of socialized healthcare (they are a liberal medical student)

i respect these people because they actually have some backbone.

if i come up to you and ask you a political question and youi parrot something from a talk show or show an absolute lack of critical thought concerning your strongly held beliefs, i get angry and depressed.

our country is being strangled by apathy and lethargy.

Dont stay home. show up and vote for someone.

even if its a write in for cthulu

Obama all the way

Republicans- another four years of messing up america...I DONT THINK SO

Obama has taken a definitive stance? He had no platform until Super Tuesday. The platform he has now is at best vague and at worst impractical and naive.

Obama is under unfair scrutiny? He damn well should be. When you run for the most important job in the world, you bet your ass every move you make should be under a microscope.

Please, Kaine, you cannot be more biased.

God forbid someone tries to be a moderate as opposed to more liberal than the elected socialists in this country. It makes no sense at all that a candidate would try to appeal to the middle being as the majority of Americans are moderate.

For the first time since I've been voting, I'm considering voting Republican. Iraq's a mess (and not getting any better), but McCain seems alot less naive about the dangers facing the United States. Right now National Security seems more important to me than immigration, gay rights, abortion, etc.

You can't be in the middle on everything, Matt :whatever: Kerry tried too hard to appeal to everyone, which is impossible.

Please, Kaine, you cannot be more biased.

That's a joke, coming from a guy who obviously dislikes Obama on a personal level, going back months and months now.

Thats true, Matt. You do come off as if you'll always dislike Obama, even he achieves world peace, gets a worldwide ban on nukes, and solves world hunger; you'd be the one trying to discredit him

One that doesn't suck.
