Given all the apparent tumult of the production, and in light of recent revelations from posters like VA and BN, and given the lackluster reception of previous films, I feel like us fans have had a harder time getting excited about this film.

These weeks leading up to the film’s release, a time that in prior years would have been characterized by full-blown anarchy brought on by our sheer collective excitement and optimism, seem to have fallen a bit flat.

With all of that in mind, I’d like to ask: based on what you’ve seen, what you’ve heard, and how optimistic you are, what do you think you’ll wind up rating JL?

Incomplete. The finished product will always do the talking. But I'm pumped up out of my mind. Some people who read spoilers do it to themselves givin the nature of text and spoilers dampening an experience that is meant to be seen in prime time. Nonetheless, I've enjoyed the DCEU immensley thus far and have been a big fan. For me, regardless of behind the scenes stuff, I see a studio, against all odds, doing everything they can do prevail and play the right cards in the midst of unforseen circumstances. That's admirable and I believe they've done all they could to make JL the best movie it can possibly be. It's Superman. It's Batman. It's Wonder Woman . It's Flash. It's Aquaman. It's Cyborg. It's Apokolips and Parademons. Come on. This is a great time to be a fan of these properties. BRING IT ON.

My previous DCEU ratings:

MOS 9
BVS:UE 5
SS 5
WW 8

For JL, I'm voting 8. I actually have a really good feeling about this film. The movie is running circles around Superman's absence and I think it will end up treating him right. BVS ran its plot around Superman too but...okay, I'll just say it. There looks to be a lot more smiling in this movie. :o

I couldn't have said it better.

Oh, I know it’s incomplete, but I’m hoping for people to just vote with their gut feeling. It’ll be really interesting to compare our votes now to our ratings after the movie’s release.

Your optimism is infectious! Great to see some of that around here!

I really like..check that..love this cast and am highly looking forward to the additions of Miller and Momoa to kick-start a new line of chemistry between the Leaguer's. That element alone is intriguing and I'm anticipating their additions for sure. Even Fisher could be a role that quietly steals the show. Mix that in with being a fan in what the DCEU has done thus far and the inevitable changes and style of directors that are putting their stamp on it and I wouldn't have a problem thinking I'd put myself at an 8/10. I'm a Superman through and through and if his return is as epic as I think it is and if they execute things as flawlessly as they did with the Lois/Clark opening of the JL trailer and the emotion that came with that, then that could easily end up being a 9, hands down. I don't want to get ahead of myself. We'll see.

5/10.

It was said by ViewerAnon that:

There are no memorable action scenes.

And those tend to be the best part of Snyder's films. Nevertheless, I'm sure I'll chuckle at some jokes and enjoy a few tidbits of character interaction before my eyes glaze over amidst the CGI festival in the third act following an inoffensive first two acts, so a 5/10 sounds appropriate.

It depends on how much they neutered Snyder's true vision.

I consider MOS as flawed as it is, around 6.8/10

BVS isn't something I'm dying to rewatch..so I guess I'd put at 5.

I think the Justice League movie looks less objectively flawed looking than BVS, but it just seems fairly dullish. I project 5/10

If it has good "heartfelt scenes" of each character for the justice league..and the attackers are dangerous...and the climax takes pretty much every member of the league fighting the foe...as long as Batman doesn't end up saving the day, I'm good.

I expect it to have a 300 level of simplicity.

I just want this to be the "safe Begins" JL movie so that the next director can go all Dark Knight on the sequel.

On this day, no truer words have been spoken.

i don't like a JL movie... to start with...

Well I gave MoS and Squad 5/10 so there's no way this is below that :)

Maybe 5.

It could go lower if its going to be worse than Bvs.

Remember though he said he saw an assembly cut with FX shots missing etc.

Anyway I’m gonna go for the audience to be about 7-8/10 on this one. Feels more like it’s gonna be a crowd pleaser.

Yup. Show up for a good time, see heroes kick ass. Not much to hate on.

6-7/10, most likely. Looks kinda dull at this moment.

Seen as though others are doing it here are my scores for the 4 current DCEU films and generic thoughts:

Man of Steel - 9/10: The greatest comic book movie of the modern age
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - 8/10: Its like the Dark Knight Rises for me in that I enjoy it and do like it a lot but as time goes on I find more issues with it.
Suicide Squad - 7/10: Just really enjoyable characters, it’s really rewatchable imo.
Wonder Woman - 8.5/10 - such a great film for a debut film for a character, it’s truly wonderful.

Tbf those with lower expectations might find themselves more entertained if the product is good or even great. I sometimes think low is xpectations are a good thing. I had them for Wonder Woman and was blown away.

Love your post man and I’m right there with ya. I’m pumped for this film. I was gearing up for Halloween but I’m too excited about JL right now.

Yup. Show up for a good time, see heroes kick ass. Not much to hate on.

I've been waiting for this film since I was a fan of the Super Friends 40 years ago. When Superman came out a year later, I was convinced that I'd see a live-action JL film in a few years. It's long overdue and possibly missing a key element in Green Lantern, but it's here. It's going to have to suck worse than Lego Batman for me to hate it.

Gotta hold something back for the next one. Plus if JL makes big bank then I guarantee they’ll be getting a JL2 on the go quicker than some of the other announced films.

I'm expecting it to feel like amateur hour, honestly, with a lot of subpar uninspired visuals and flat comedy. Kind of like Xmen Apocalypse.

And I think a lot of the strengths of MoS, and even BVS, will be absent here. I just get the sense that Snyder wasn't given enough time before shooting started to really flex his creative muscles in every shot or to figure out how to shoot things practically.

To be fair, I thought WW looked underwhelming from the trailers, and I think that's because in a trailer you mostly are just dealing with visuals (which I do think we're pretty underwhelming in the movie), but the movie ended up having a strong well directed story. Hopefully JL does too. I could see it happening. But all I can tell you is how I feel, how the trailers make me feel.

I don't know. The spoilers sound good, BUUUT, that's like asking me how do I think i'm gonna like a new restaurant, even tho I wasn't crazy about a similar one down the street from it.

No offense to the OP, but this is a ridiculously pointless thread.

I, uh, have to agree. Especially if you're one of the people who've chosen not to read the spoilers.
