How should each JLA member be handled?

Typical American. You think you're the centre of the whole bloody universe. :oldrazz: j/k

I'd rather have Wally West over Barry Allen. I know that Barry is the Flash when the Justice League is assembled, but he's been dead in the comics for over twenty years and most of us think of Wally West when we think of the Flash. They went with Wally in JL and JLU shows. However, I do think it would be cool in a Justice League sequel if Barry died heroically.

Do you guys think that the League should already be formed when the movie begins? WB could save origins for possible spinoffs. You can still develop a character without showing each little element of his/her backstory.

Pretty sure it won't be character origins but the movie will be the actual formation of The League.

The Justice League is Earth's first and last line of defense...a patheon of protectors watching over the Earth from a Watchtower satellite station orbiting in space.

SUPERMAN is the unofficial chairman, and an inspiration to all who know him.

BATMAN is the League's master strategist and moral compass, keeping a vigil from the Watchtower and ready to do battle when needed.

WONDER WOMAN is an Amazon warrior dedicated to teaching the path of peace to the world leaders as an ambassador from Themiscyria. She acts as a go between with the world's governments and the League.

THE FLASH is a global wide patrolman, scouring the world at pulsating super speeds as a ground answer to Batman in the skies.

GREEN LANTERN acts as the League's liason with extra terrestrial entites, maintaining the protection of sector 2814 with the energy bestowed upon him by an Oan power ring.

AQUAMAN is an architect of the teams bylaws, and along with Batman helps to keep the League in check while completing the observation trifecta by acting as a safeguard for the world's oceans from his kingdom of Atlantis.

THE MARTIAN MANHUNTER uses his abilities of shape shifting and telepathy to act as an "off the books" agent of the League, performing espionage missions when necessary, but also in turn siding with Superman, Diana and GL as a resident power house when global security is at stake.

ORACLE is the League's technological Data Central. Barbara Gordon's intricate databases on both metahumans and criminals are vital assets to the League.

They need to show why Superman needs the League. If he's the #1 guy, they need a scene or two to show that he can't do it alone.

They need a scene with Batman explaining that he's partly in the League to make sure no one goes power hungry.

I don't think Aquaman should be included. From a budgetary standpoint, shooting a film with aquatic sets can be very expensive (see Waterworld, Poseidon), and his backstory of distrust against the surface dwellers could be its own movie.

Green Lantern could be used as the police aspect, the soldier boy.

Flash obviously more of the comic relief, but at the same time, one of the more powerful members, as in JLU.

Either WW or MM could be used as a way of introducing the audience to the League (ala Rogue in the X-men films).

I think it would be better to show the League as already have been set up secretly, with the public unaware that these heroes are working together.

The question as to why Superman does need the league is one that should be addressed, as he can basically be everywhere and do everything that they all can for the most part. It's a valid point.

Actually Superman can't really be everywhere at once. He is only one alien and as powerful as he is, he can't save all the Earth alone. He would feel like its his responcability to though, and thats why he would join the league.

Just like Batman joining for the same reason. His war on crime will only go so far if he is alone. If he joins forces, or builds a powerful team, he can increase his war to a global scale.

Artistsean. I don't mean to sound picky, but Superman should represent what humankind should be, not just Americans.

I agree, he should be the best that mankind has to offer. But I think he also represents America in a way.
"Never Ending Battle for Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

He is sort of like DC's Captain America, or is Captain America Marvel's Superman? (In that each is their comic universe's costumed symbol for America.)

Plus, since he lives in America, Superman uses values he was brought up with in Kansas by his American parents to guide his actions.
Not that he is trying to make every place act like America though. He should try to also represent the Earth as a whole too.

But that is another thing.
I think, like Captain America, he deals alot with politics. He, maybe takes too much responcibility. He should maybe try to speak as a representative for Earth, as its protector. (not as its leader) Hust someone who is trying to make sure everything is at its best and OK,
He should sort of act like Earth's parental/ authority figure.
While he knows he isn't always right, maybe he feels like he knows whats best.

Just some ideas for Superman.

More or less he shouldn't be the end all, be all when it comes to taking care of issues, hence why others need to be working with him as opposed to just lone agents on their own.

My biggest worry is not being able to give each character an efficient amount of screentime. As long as they can get that down with a good story, then all will be fine. As for the leader, I think it should be split between both Superman and Batman.

I always thought "the American way" meant helping out those who can't help themselves, i.e. the little guy. Of course, if that means going into a war under false pretenses and without a viable strategy, then maybe it should be redefined.

From what I can tell the American government seems to step on the little guys.

I agree, the current one does. But I think when the words "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" were first used, our government, and country, was looked upon as more of a beacon of hope, where anyone could truly become successful if he or she worked hard enough.

Keep it coming. I'm liking what I hear so far.

Wow. Ridiculous.

One, I was being facetious. Get off the liberal pseudo intellect elite high horse and take a joke. And two, you get that label because you've decide in your limited life experience and studies that you know what's best for the world.

Really, humankind should be like Scandinavia, the most progressive part of the world.

I'm not even going to get into this, because I'd rather run my head through a wall. But, if the United States does adopt the progressive policies of say Sweden I hope you enjoy your required military service. Iraq is a lovely place.

I'm loving the idea of a Justice League film, and as a massive Batman fan I have just one thing to say...

....NO BATMAN in a JLA film!!! The character is ok as part of the team in comics or cartoon, but you just know his translation into a big screen film version is gonna be bad. I think it's also a bad mistake on WB/DCs part to make this film seperate from the Batman and Superman franchises - basically keep Batman out of it, no problem there and bring in Brandon Routh as Superman.
Also - I know this is JLA but remember guys - Wonder Woman is an Amazon. They are basically Greek, so whoever plays her should have the mediterranean look about her.
The rest of the team... Hal Jordan, Barry Allen definitely. Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and Green Arrow to fill the void left by Batman. :cwink:

You can't do JL without the Bat. You just can't. As the only one without powers, he has to be the one that's somewhat of the outsider in that respect.

What about Green Arrow? No powers, bit of an attitude - he'd fill the Bat void nicely.
Ensemble movies are hard to pull off - Xmen worked I think because most non-comic reading people had never heard of them, but Batman, Superman etc. are household names to everybody, which makes it a hundred times harder... have you seen the JL TV movie?!?
As I can see a lot of daylight action in the movie, Batman just doesn't fit with that! Just my opinon - I would love to see a well made JL film, but without Batman.

Batman should never be in a "team" per se but should have allies in his War on crime!

Why are people so hellbent on not seeing Batman in a JLA movie, as if it somehow heightens his mystique? It's not like they're putting the JLA in Nolan's Batman franchise. Batman is working with the JLA in a completely seperate one.

And yes, Green Arrow could probably fill the everyman role, but he couldn't fill Batman's role. Batman's a lot more than "A guy with no powers".
