I realize there's possibly no real answer to this, but his jumping height and durability were specified (1/8th of a mile and able to withstand anything short of a bursting artillery shell), so I figure there might be a stated limit to his lifting ability. Also, was he originally faster than a speeding bullet or was that a later addition?

I don't recall any specific reference to how much he can lift or the mention of being faster than a speeding bullet, just that he could outrun a car or express train.

Here is a page:

and you can read Action Comics #1 online:

well the 30s sedan he's featured lifting on the cover, probably weights about 3000 lbs

Car weighs around 3500 lbs, steel I-Beam he is lifting weighs around 1400 lbs. Of course, he did all that effortlessly, so that is hardly the full extent of his strength.

Silver/Bronze Age Superman who could move planets and hold the weight of the Earth, as Atlas did, could lift at least 6,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons.

Kuro, where exactly do you get this information? Impressive!
