I just happened to glance at the Spider-Man forums... I may never be the same person again. Although I do appreciate that this level of shared lunacy continues 10 years after Spider-Man 3 came out. A strong, baffling legacy.

I will say this: ten years has given people enough time to get better at using BBCode. I mean, their arguments had bulletpoints, subheadings, layered quotes... A lot of work went into arguing over whether Homecoming will be as big a piece of **** as The Amazing Spider-Man, or if it will rise above.

It's the silliest place on the Hype right now. It's actually more divided as a fan base these days than the D.C. stuff in my opinion. Not that there's peace love and understanding on that front but the heat is not what it was at all.

But the Spidey fandom on the Hype is all over the map. You would have thought that given the ascendancy of Marvel that everyone would be more or less pleased with Spidey being included in the MCU but... Jeeeeesus... You got the Raimi loyalists, the Webb defenders, the people that will **** on anything Sony does, the people that will **** on anything Marvel/Disney does, the somewhere on the spectrum nitpickers and those for whom nothing associated with Marvel can have any flaws what so ever. Thankfully most are locked up in the insane asylum that those threads are. When I pop in I see many of the Hype's usual suspects but I see many more that never post any where else it seems.

I frankly am looking forward to Homecoming. I just think they gave the film away in that last trailer. I am hoping for some surprises at this point once I see it.

...Cancel the MCU. The people no longer deserve it.

Sentient alien goo is too far a line to cross, but a green rage monster, literal Norse gods, jewelry that controls the universe, space pirates, talking ducks, actual magic, shrink rays, A GUY WHO CAN CLIMB WALLS BECAUSE A SPIDER BIT HIM, and a guy in a suit of armor flying at Mach 10 are all within the realm of possibility.
