This movie will released in Japan soon, how do you think it will do there? The Japanese already like transformers, so it already has a built in fan base there.

$40 million. That's mega numbers over there.

Well I heard they like giant robots over there and this is the first big budget giant robot movie. I wonder if Prime will still be called "Big Convoy" in Japan?

It depends on whether the movie is dubbed or subtitled. And even then, I'm guessing they'll call him "Convoy" in the subtitles.

I assume it would be dubbed, it would be a treat for the fans there if the transformers had the same voices as the ones in the Transformers anime.

What do you mean 40? Opening weekend?Cause it can do 150 in Japan no problem...it did 50 in Korea and TF is made in Japan

it'll bomb like Hiroshima. they hate giant mecha and cars over there.

shame on you who thought i was serious when i typed that...

My guess it's gonna be similar to one of those John Pinette momments: "Look, it'sa likea Free Reerie!":woot:

There are movie posters all over the place here. I'll let you know what the general buzz is on it's opening day

The first Potter went on to do $150 million in Japan, so I think it'll top that.

But don't they pirate movies in Japan and then make hardly any money? That's how my friend first saw Spider-Man 3.

Well the original toys and cartoon were big hits over there, so i dont see any reason why the movie wont be.

LoL. I just thought of something funny. Whether it's dubbed or subtitled, the cybertronian subtitles will translate to japanese, right? Because the cybertronian stuff already looks japanese, so I'd be interested to see that translation. LoL.

The movie was released in Japan today. Could someone report on how it is doing there?

But it's also very much a Western film, which may hurt the movie's chances with the mecha loving Japanese audience.

So was Godzilla and the american version tanked over there, despite being an Oscar-worthly flick.

Just kiddin'.

$5 million on opening in Japan? Is that typical? Not for nuthin, but Transformers' overseas numbers aren't looking all that hot. Although I'll admit I'm no expert at this staggered release thing or what movies usually pull in certain countries. I just expected Transformers to be doing a whole lot better overseas by now.
