How will you be saying the new year?

How do you pronounce the 2000s?

  • Two Thousand - Fifteen

  • Twenty - Fifteen

I don't know if this a huge problem, it's actually not it's pretty arbitrary. Since we've been in the 2010s, this year will you be saying Twenty-Fifteen or Two-Thousand n Fifteen?

Happy new Year everyone

Two thousand fifteen. I refuse to say aughts and I'll be saying two thousand until the day I die.

Twenty fifteen. I'm a busy man with no time fo' dat

It's Twenty Fifteen, just like it was Ninteteen Ninety Nine, not One Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Nine.

Up until about March, it'll be "Twenty-fourt...no wait, damnit. Twenty-four-fifteen".

Exactly this. That's how I've been doing it since 2010.

Plus, something about saying the year as "twenty-fifteen" sounds cool science fictiony to me.

well then everyone should've been saying twenty hundred instead of two thousand when it was 2000.

It's funny. I'm inclined to say 'twenty fifteen', even though I know, as Baneful pointed out, that no one says 'twenty hundred' (and rightfully so).

Anyway, in real life I'm more likely to pronounce it 'tweeduizend vijftien', or on occasion 'dua ribu lima belas'.

Typically I say twenty-fifteen...though during the early years of the 21st century, I said years as two-thousand whatever.

2015. It just sounds right.

Actually it was nineteen hundred and ninety nine. :p

And I say twenty fifteen.

Has anyone ever read Orwell's novel - One thousand nine hundred and eighty four?
Or Arthur C. Clarke's - Twenty-Oh-One a Space Odyssey?
What about Ten-Oh-One Nights?
No?
